There are many places to stay in El Nido depending on your budget and where your research wants you located. We usually pick out places by location then value and lastly by past reviews sorted by Newest first so we can see what people think and feel now not 6 months to 3 years ago. That said, we found the El Nido Moringa Resort and it didn’t disappoint. The hotel is approximately a 20 min ride from the airport and the hotel is happy to send a van to pick you up and bring you to the property for 1000 pesos ($17). If you’re on a budget there are many other ways to get to El Nido Town and the prices are clearly posted so there are no shenanigans.
This is a boutique hotel with approximately 20 rooms on three levels all overlooking their clean beautiful pool. Upon arriving you are warmly welcomed by the resort supervisor Joyce & her lovely staff Princess and Jennifer who make you feel comfortable immediately with a refreshing welcome drink. Then valet Ivan helps bring your bags to your room and makes sure that everything is clean and working as expected. He was available as was the entire staff at all times seeing to your every needs. Everyone at this resort speak perfect English so you are not going to encounter any communication issues during your stay.
Here is just one of the many examples of the white glove service during our stay: I mistakenly booked a night flight out of here on AirSwift instead of their morning flight and couldn’t resolve it myself. It was late Sunday night and when I went to the front desk and explained my mistake, they took all my information about the mistaken night flight and the morning flight I wanted and by 9am Monday morning they had it resolved for me. This is the type of service one would expect at a five-star hotel – they took complete ownership of my problem and resolved it for me.
As a result of the uncooperative weather at this time of the year we didn’t take any of the excursions and opted to hang by their pool. Their pool is large enough so that you don’t feel crowded and meticulously cleaned every morning. There are plenty of comfortable lounge chair for sun tanning during the brief parting of the clouds letting in the sun. They have a full-service bar and restaurant and you will meet “Divine” there who is enthusiastic with seeing to your every needs. The food is hit & miss but the free breakfast included with your daily room rate is acceptable. We opted for the continental breakfast filled with a plate full of fruit, toast and a pancake with maple syrup.
The resort is an easy 15-20 min walk to the middle of the friendly town and a 5-8 min walk to some of the best restaurants in El Nido. If you are unsure where to stay in El Nido we can highly recommend El Nido Moringa Resort for large clean rooms (ours had a true King Size Bed), good AC, decent Internet access, outstanding service staff and a large clean pool. We give this resort two thumbs up and...
Read moreRooms are nice, clean and nicely equipped. The pool and garden are also very pleasant to spend time. Unfortunately the service is a big minus, the ladies at the reception remind you to the minute what time check-out is, however, the fact that the room is not ready at the check-in time is not a problem for them.. they are just saying: „not ready you need to wait”… they will not even apologize that you do not get what you pay for. When I ask what time my room will be ready they replied: „We do not know”.
I have many examples of such approach resulted in bad experience. Be carefull with booking local trips with them, they are mixing the prices, can’t reply to simple questions. In case of some issue with weather they are saying the trip is cancelled and not mentioning anything about paid money, other options etc. In fact it is better to find and talk directly to the tour Company they are cooperating as the staff is super friendly and flexible.
At the end during check out they tried to charge me for drinks order that was not mine! When I said this is not my order and not my signature on the bill for drinks they said we would wait for the pool staff to explain it. After 10 min when I said I have no more time to wait as my transfer is waiting and they can see different name on the bill they ignored me totaly and said - waiting for pool bar staff. Of course it was no my order at the end but again … not even sorry for trying to force me for payment .. Not the best experience and very low quality of reception service in general. I visited the hotel at the end...
Read moreIt is so difficult to review because the experience is split. The room and hotel amenities are outstanding. We loved our room and the pool so much. It was clean and comfortable and stunning. However the service and the breakfast are the reason for the low score. The breakfast was one of the poorest hotel breakfasts we had eaten. We felt extremely ill afterwards. We only ate it once during our stay. The service was not what I expected when I had paid so much money. They were very welcoming and polite. But there were issues. Housekeeping did not come one day whilst we were out for many hours. When I asked if they could make the bed the answer at the reception was “you probably did not give them enough time”. I didn’t like this answer. Next, they had our laundry for about 36 hours. It should have been 24. When we asked they said it was coming and “to wait”. I didn’t like this answer. Also I believe they had forgotten. Lastly, at checkout I paid our balance no problem by card. Then 10 minutes later whilst we are waiting for our bus the lady at the reception informs me that she miscalculated and that I owed 100 pesos. She was right but we then had an issue how to pay this money because I only had money for the bus and she had no change so I had to pay on my card again which amounted to additional bank fees. None of these issues are serious at all. I understand. However this was a lot of money to pay that I do not think is reflected in the service. I’m sure it was just...
