Let’s be honest, the best of this restaurant is the sunset view. The owner is so friendly and talkative, but our food and service experience had a lot to wish. We went to this restaurant in the last days of December 23, during Xmas holidays. Starting with a big expectation from the owner, Ricardo, selling his pasta and pizza as one of the best in the area. Our surprise was he did not have all the ingredients to fulfill his promises. Drinks: Aperol spritz was not available, not more Aperol at the place. And the gin&tonic was only gin. Fantastic if you like the cocktails strong, but it was not the case. Pizza: big surprise to see that there was no more available dough. We were only 3 tables with customers, the other 2 ordered one pizza each. Our surprise was there was not more pizzas with no a lot of customers in the restaurant. I don’t know how they deal when the restaurant is full. Pasta: Ricardo sold us the pasta was really good and the sauce was fresh and cooked just before it goes on the table. We ordered pasta with tomato and basil and pasta with ragú. The first pasta was really good, al dente and the sauce was flavour. But the ragú was not properly cooked with hours of foreseen. The sauce was not properly cook. The service was slow, taking a lot of time to order, many clarifications of the available ingredients and options and the too much time waiting for the pasta, the only thing that they had available. At the end we understood what happened. There was only one chef in a small kitchen. The poor guy was preparing the pizzas, but he stopped making pizzas to work in the kitchen to prepare the pasta for the customers. I do not know why this restaurant has the rate so high, the food and service is not good, lack of management. The views are incredible, enjoy them because it is going to be the best of the restaurant if things...
Read moreWe love to eat.
After visiting northern Italy last year, it’s been a real treat to find such amazing and authentic Italian food in PI.
Riccardo (the chef and owner) is amazing. The set menu is great but it’s worth asking about the daily specials. Certain dishes can only be made if they are up to his quality standard. His passion and warm hospitality is worth checking out this hidden gem. He is from the birthplace of Prosecco and the spritz so they are a must while you eat.
We’ve been here for over a week and found ourselves returning multiple times because IT IS THAT GOOD!!!
In a land full of tropical drinks and rice, it’s nice to find something a little different. Every item is made fresh daily and you can really taste it.
The pizza is a must try. The fresh mozzarella is a must. We had the Quattro formaggio, if you love cheese pizza it’s the choice for you. You can’t go wrong with any choice.
The salad was fresh and simple but delicious.
The dessert, especially the panna cotta, is amazing. Show up early if you want to try the limited fresh choices. You really can’t go wrong. The jam is homemade and you can really taste it.
We can’t recommend this place enough. Please try it and you won’t be disappointed. We loved our meals here.
The sunset looks amazing from the balcony as well. We loved the environment...
Read moreThe best pizza and pasta in town. We have come here, after we already ate at another Italian restaurant on our trip to El Nido, and we were just blown away. I cannot understand that the reviews of this place are anything less than 5 stars. The only thing that made our experience a 9,5 out of 10 was the fact that we just could not get enough of the food we were eating. Don’t get me wrong; the portions were very fair and actually quite big, but because of the amazing flavors we just could not and did not want to stop eating. The restaurant is owned by two Italian brothers that really understand their cuisine and profession. It was simply amazing. You could really taste the passion for Italian food in every single bite.
Unfortunately we ate at this restaurant on our last day in El Nido. Otherwise we would have for sure gone back. If you are in any doubt about which Italian restaurant you should pick in El Nido; don’t be! Go to Mangio restaurant and indulge in the delicious food they serve.
For reference; we ate pasta with green pesto and a spicy pizza margherita with buffalo mozzarella added. We finished our meal with a homemade tiramisu. The food really was exceptional and the friendly owners make the visit to the restaurant an amazing experience all over.
Thank you so much and greetings from the...
