There are positives about this hostel, but also some negatives.
The positives: they are sweeping the floor multiple times a day. The showers and toilets were quiet clean. Rooms have airconditioning.
The common area is nice and the small pool is a bonus. The hostel is very social, without being a party hostel.
We were going on a day tour early in the morning and asked for breakfast. They put something to eat in a basket for us in the morning.
The window of our room was broken and everyone could climb inside if they wanted to. When we pointed it out at the reception, they immediately fixed it.
They also arranged the bus for us to Port Barton and we could rent a bicycle.
Then the negatives. It's quiet expensive for what you get, but that's apparently more common in El Nido. We had a private bedroom and paid 34 euro's per night. It's nothing more than a matress on a wooden frame and a little closet. You don't have a blanket, but get a fleece blanket to sleep under. We slept next to the outdoor area, the bathroom and the door to the outside area, so we were never be able to sleep before 11 at night and after 7 in the morning. People get loud instantly in the morning, but that's of course on the people themselves. We are travelling for 5 months now and never experienced something so expensive for what you get. We know El Nido is quiet expensive, but this is definitely not worth the 34 euro's per night compared to the rest of Asia.
We got two towels with the private room, otherwise you need to rent them. When we asked to exchange towels (we were staying 5 nights), they wanted to charge us 100 pesos (€1,60) per towel! They gave a bad attitude when we said that's unreasonable. So we needed to shower with the same towel for 5 nights. For 17 euro per person, I expect a renewel of my towel at least once. Towels need to be replaced, since it's nothing more than hanging threads. The showers don't have warm water and you can't hang your clothes anywhere without being soaking wet.
We also booked the venue 10 months up front (since it's peak season and we are on a budget of €17,50 per person per hotel per night), which included breakfast at the time of booking. When we arrived they said there was no breakfast available and said that it was never an option. I'm 100% sure we booked it with (we keep several spreadsheets up to date about the travels) and multiple reviews un the past talked about the including breakfast, but they looked at us as if we were going crazy and said we could use the paid option.
For the WiFi: you don't have any signal inside the room or in the bathroom. You even can't get signal from the provider, so you will be cutt off all signals if you are inside.
Also something to consider: you need to take of your shoes at all time, which also means while showering and going to the toilet. That's just gross, since there are hairspray and stuff of...
Read moreWe took the Double Room with shared bathroom for 3 nights. Room is clean and comfy. The bathroom is modern and really clean, probably one of the best hostel bathrooms we've seen!
There's an indoor living room where you can hang out and play video games, and there's also an outdoor kitchen/dining area where you can have a drink and meet other travelers. They have drinking water dispensers too.
Kame House is about 3km away from the town of El Nido, which takes about 10 mins on a trike. The trike ride to town should only cost you 50 pesos for 2 person, don't let the trike drivers charge you more than 50 pesos!
If you turn right from Kame House (opposite direction of El Nido town), you can walk to Pops District (about 10 mins walk), which is a relatively new area with cool bars and restaurants and an AMAZING view of the sunset.
What made Kame stand out for us was the vibe and cozy environment! It really felt like coming home after a day of traveling. Huge shoutout to the host and staff at Kame House! They were really helpful and amazing! They made our stay...

I can understand that this hostel was great about 5 years ago. Because of the lack of maintenance or just not caring enough, the place is moldy. You need to hold the shower head to shower, loose toilet seats, but more importantly, GROSS.
As we arrived a bit early, the lady at the check-in counter was not really welcoming as her telephone was more interesting. Without looking up, she told us to drop our bags in the main area. I have to say that the counter is very messy. This was not a great sign. Wherever you see staff in the hostel, they are extremely busy with their phone.
Whenever I swim in pools, I am used to that the water is blue; in this case, the water colour was brown/green.
As there are a lot of homeless dogs walking in and out of the hostel, you will find lots of dog hears everywhere.
The air conditioning is a central air conditioning, which is not a problem. What is a bit inconvenient is that they turn the aircon off during the night... On a positive note this does help to not use their...
