Keira Backpackers — Hotel in El Nido

We felt very comfortable in this backpacker hotel, that's why we also extended our stay. In just 5 minutes you can walk to the city center, where there are many restaurants and bars. There was a very tasty breakfast and delicious fresh coffee at the hotel. Our host Angel and her husband Michael were always there for us. Michel has his own tuk-tuk and takes guests to meeting points and into the city. Angel took a lot of time to advise us on our daily plans. For example, she recommended great beaches nearby and gave us very detailed advice on boat tours. You can book tours at fair prices through her partner agency. She also looked after my friend when she had a stomach ache and gave her medicine. Thank you very much!! Angel's "all-round carefree package" also includes a laundry service and she booked our van to puerto princesa as well. She was available at all times and we had a great time in this hotel. So we knew that El Nido is expensive compared to other places in the Philippines and struggled to find an ok hotel in our price range but if I'd known how bad this place would be I would have definitely paid more for something better. The location was ok - not too far to walk into town but also limited good restaurants close by. Main issues - the water was bore water and really stunk - so no refreshing shower. Rooms had bugs - my daughter woke up covered in bites. Doors were difficult to lock and we were paranoid from other traveller reports of theft. Breakfast was horrible. There was no privacy for our rooms as they faced directly onto entry of next hotel. Very unclean and dusty outside - no deck or entry space to dry clothes, hang out, leave shoes etc. Poor wifi in rooms. On plus side they did clean rooms daily and staff...

We had the worst Hotel ever. The add says 1km from the town, no, its way too far! From everything at first. Water was horribly horrifying, it was black and smells bad like from Drainage. When we came, it was so small, with the door as a sliding door/window. That is so hard to lock. The toilet drain has hair from previous guests. It wasn't cleaned. The soap from previous guests was there too, it wasn't cleaned. The Aircon was dirty, like seriously dusty! And small that is why its so hot it the afternoon, we dont want to stay in.
