This is a long review because it was really a very interesting stay. I booked a 2-pax room, the standard one because we were initially just 2. But the night before our trip, our friend spontaneously joined us so I was thinking of just adding another pax and getting an extra bed. When we got to the hotel, no problem — they can accommodate our friend. They made us wait for 10-20 minutes as they were preparing the room, but they mentioned that there was something broken in our original room so they upgraded us to the penthouse. Cool, free upgrade! When we got the room, it wasn’t bad since it’s a free upgrade. Had a bunk bed and 1 queen bed — really big for just the 3 of us However, when we got back late at night (around 11pm), there was a key on the door and we couldn’t open the door. We had to wait for like 30 minutes for the staff to open our door. Our minds were racing to our valuables (laptop, ipads, bags, etc) since the key was just readily available for anyone to use since it was left on the door. Luckily, everything was where it was. But we still felt unsafe. They said that they had to access the penthouse since the water tank was there and forgot to remove the key. They just said sorry. The next day, my friend talked to the staff since we were still staying another night. They apologised again, compensated us with free breakfast and another night at the penthouse instead of putting us on the standard room. Problem is when we got back the second night, we saw our door WIDE open. The second floor hallway was flooded since it rained. This time, we didn’t even bother bringing it up cos we made sure all our valuables were with us and left just our clothes. The hotel honestly had A LOT of potential, the location wasn’t bad since it was just beside tavern by the sea and near a lot of good restaurants. But similar to the other reviews, aside from the unsafe experience — room was poorly maintained. Bathroom has a weird smell. Pillows weren’t comfortable. Next time, I’d add 500-700/night for a better hotel.

04/15/23 - Room 3 Keep your expectations realistic as this is a 2 star establishment and they meet expectations very well. This a hostel type place but we had our private room with private restroom. The TV even had netflix and YouTube. Pros: -Room was clean, they use electronic key cards for rooms (Surprising) -Staff is very friendly -Bed was comfortable, most likely uratex mattress, slept well -Bathroom was clean, toilet bowl seat was really clean and had strong flush -AC was really cold -Don’t hear any other people from other rooms -Place is at the center of activities, next to El Union Coffee hub, 2 mins Walk to the beach, 4 mins walk from floatsam jetsam, 8 mins walk to kabsat La Union -Insanely good free restaurant breakfast (Longsilog had very good rice and vegan longanisa) -Coffee was really good, better than el Union coffee Cons: -Room is next to busy area, expect noise, but I was able to sleep well -bathroom has grime on bidet and shower head, heater shower was non existant -CCTV is there but no one manning it, door is constantly open -Icetea breakfast had too much sugar, take the coffee instead -Electric outlet under TV was unstable, unable to use TV at all, possible fire hazard

Really tight parking, had to pay for overnight parking at the back of hotel from locals who owned the land behind. The actual hostel/ hotel is on the 2nd floor of the bldg. Not good if you have lots of heavy bags. There's a coffee shop/restaurant downstairs. Check in was confusing at first because they didn't have any employees manning the lobby desk upstairs. I had to go downstairs and ask help from staff at coffee shop. Room was good. Had nice soft comforters and towels for each bed. Ac was working good. Only issue is when we tried getting food downstairs, this younger staff member with an afro was just at first staring at me when I was trying to ask if they also served food aside from coffee. He didn't seem to want to be there. My husband also witnessed how he treated the other guests next to us. Good thing the owner jumped in and assisted me with the menus. The saving grace was the rest of the staff and the Owner - very nice to us.. The pros of this place is at the back of hotel is the beachside access. There was a tent selling bbq and beer. We got to also enjoy the entertainment from the resort next door.

The main consideration in this review is the cost of the room| This is where everything revolves around in.||Prior to leaving for La Union, I tried to get in touch with them through Facebook, IG, and text. I got initial responses of greetings only and they never replied after. My friend had to call them to continue with the transaction. It was not a good start to a vacation.||We managed to book the standard room for 2 for 1880 pesos for an overnight stay. As mentioned, this is where most of the considerations in the review revolves around in.||Location|The hotel is along the road. You cannot miss it because its almost beside other famous business in San Juan. It is very accessible to the bars, 5 minute walk to the beach behind, restaurants are all within walking distance as well. However, parking is limited. They only have a small space infront which can accomodate 3 vehicles. All others have to park along the road. ||The building has their own EL Navi restaurant in the first floor. For a first timer, you would not know where to go. We arrived at 3pm and the restaurant was closed from 2 to 5pm for breaktime. There was a small space beside the resto entrance which leads to the stairs going up. There was no sign so we had to contact the poc we dealt with. He came down and greeted us. The reception was in the 2nd floor lobby. ||We were showed to our room, it was a lot smaller than what we expected. Upon researching online, the standard room appeared to be different and had a bigger space. We were also not given our key not until after 5pm because the person who is in charge of checking in, who was working in the restaurant was on break.||Activities|Since the hotel is situated in the best location, everything is within reach. They actually have a list of places you can tour outside the restaurant which you can ask the staff to help you plan. However, since San Juan is a surf capital, it's should be top priority. Although the hotel does not employ surfers for their guests, the beach behind the hotel has a hut where surfers hang out and can assist you.||Good night sleep|Despite the room being too small for comfort, we were actually able to sleep soundly. The bed was comfortable and the aircon was really cold which was good.||Value for money|Overall, this place deserves a 3 star mainly because it is affordable. You get what you pay for. It is a simple surf hotel with...

My recent stay in the standard room was comfortable overall, but I noticed a few areas that could be improved, particularly with regard to the bathroom facilities:

Water Pressure and Temperature: The water pressure in both the sink and shower was quite inconsistent, with occasional drops that made it difficult to enjoy a steady flow. Additionally, the hot water took several minutes to warm up, and even then, the temperature fluctuated during the shower. Enhancing the plumbing to provide consistent water pressure and faster access to hot water would make a big difference.

Bidet Functionality: The bidet was a great addition, but unfortunately, it had very low water pressure, making it less functional than expected. I also noticed that the controls were not very intuitive, and some guests might struggle to use them. An upgrade to a more modern, adjustable bidet system with clearer instructions would be much appreciated by international travelers and those unfamiliar with bidets.

Shower Experience: The shower space felt quite confined, and water tended to pool due to slow drainage, which made the shower area feel less clean and a bit uncomfortable. I would suggest improving the drainage system to prevent standing water, as well as increasing the size of the shower if possible. Additionally, the showerhead was basic and didn’t offer different spray options. Replacing it with a high-quality, adjustable showerhead (e.g., rainfall or massage modes) would add a touch of luxury and improve the overall experience.

General Cleanliness and Maintenance: While the room itself was clean, there were some signs of mildew starting to develop around the edges of the shower. Regular deep cleaning and mold-resistant materials could help maintain a fresher and more hygienic bathroom environment.

Water Conservation: Lastly, it might be a good idea to incorporate water-saving measures, such as low-flow faucets and eco-friendly showerheads, to reduce water waste without compromising guest comfort. This could also appeal to eco-conscious travelers.

Overall, these improvements would significantly elevate the guest experience in the standard rooms and ensure a more pleasant and...
