My best friend and I, booked, paid online, and checked in at Grandma's Yellow House. We chose grandma's house because it was in the center of town and had one of the only few rooms left available online.||To enter the inn, you had to go through a souvenir store. We walked in and there was no counter, so we had no idea who to ask. ||I approached a teenage boy who was working in the souvenir store and asked him about our reservation. He just looked at us like he had no idea what we were talking about. I repeated myself then he ran downstairs, probably to talk to whoever was in charge. ||We heard them discussing about us. And a couple minutes later, he ran back up, opened a door for us, said 'Heres your room', then rudely walked away without giving us a chance to ask or say anything.||We reserved a room with a shared bathroom and cold water, but for some reason we got a room with its own bathroom and hot water. No complaints there, but that says alot about their management. ||There was only one towel for the two person room and no toiletries (except for toilet paper). The room also wasn't soundproof, and since our room was near the entrance of the inn, we could clearly hear when guests were talking. ||If you're a light sleeper I definitely would not recommend this Inn.||The bathroom was big enough, but had a design flaw. ||The shower head was not adjustable and dropped water directly downwards. It had a heater built-in and the water was nice and warm. I'm actually really fond of these kinds of showers because the water would fall down on you really nicely. ||The problem was, the shower head was directly underneath the sink, and since it was not adjustable, you had to sort of sit on the sink to shower properly. That made for some interesting shower positions.||When we settled in, we noticed he didn't give us a key, which he should have, so we approached him again and he gave us a key.||Speaking of keys, when we came back in the evening after exploring Sagada, we noticed that our key wasn't working. We notified them and the same boy came back with a big bunch of keys. He tried the keys one by one until he found a working key. He then gave us that key without knowing if it's a spare key or not and walked away.||On a positive note, the bed was big, nice, and comfortable The room had a really nice log cabin feel. And the bed sheet was also nice and thick so we had no problem with the cold at night. ||When we checked out, we gave our key to the kid. We thanked him and he thanked us back. We then stood there for a few seconds, expecting him to check a log book or stand up and check the room. But he just sat there looking uninterested. So we just headed out.||We could've stolen a towel or broke something, or walked away without paying, and gotten away with it.||The room was really nice and affordable. But because of the way it was managed, I wouldn't go back if there were other...
Read moreAfter checking our preferred accommodation in Sagada that were already fully-booked, we ended up in this place. We were tired looking for other rooms and this is just across Yoghurt House so we thought it was convenient. So we checked the vacant rooms, first they showed us 1 double bed room but my friend and I preferred twin sharing room which they also have available that time (1 double bed + 1 single bed) good for 3-4 persons for the same price of 300/head. We decided to choose the latter. Our room was okay, it's clean and cozy though there's no trash can inside our room, we always had to go out to the common restroom every time we throw our trash. Also, Yellow House is along the main road so it's kinda noisy during day time.||||If you're fussy about bathroom then this place is not for you. We actually are, bathroom is very important to us. However, when we checked-in somebody was using it so we weren't able to check it. So we just assumed it was equally good as their rooms. - VERY WRONG DECISION!||||So here it goes... First, the toilet is old and has no flush, also the whole bathroom is not appealing, looks rusty and old. Next, it's the ONLY common restroom so expect a queue when using it so you can't really enjoy a proper shower as you have to mind the next user. The WORST part is, HOT and COLD shower is NOT working! During our 3d/2n stay there, we endured the freezing cold water every time we take a shower. And we couldn't just skip shower after all the exhausting activities we had done in Sagada. When we complained to them, they were just like "Oh, really?" but didn't do anything. I think they already knew this and didn't have any solution or any plan of fixing this problem. Which for me is very unacceptable if you're in a hospitality business. In this chilly place, working heater is extremely a MUST. Guests would want a warm and proper shower after all the tiring activities. But here, we felt like we're in a FEAR FACTOR or ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE in every ice cold shower we take (no kidding!). And now, I think I'm gonna get sick because of this unpleasant experience.||||My advice to everyone is to avoid this place at all cost, there are plenty and better place options in Sagada. Nobody deserves an extremely COLD shower in the mountain!||||I will never stay here again nor will recommend this place to anyone! Very...
Read moreIt was the only place, I could get but even I am to blame since I made the bookings at the last minute, and I guess I was lucky considering it was the "Holy Week Holidays". 1st thing about this place, is that it is on main road, and bang opposite to "Yogurt House" - so problem about food. Very friendly & hospitable owners though one does not get to interact too much with them, except when you want to buy "pasalubong" at the shop at the ground floor. The rooms are comfortable with attached bathrooms - hot water is provided(trust me you will need it in Sagada). The only drawback is lack of car parking since it is on the main road - you will have to hunt for space, and if you are unlucky you might end up parking your car at the church & have a good cardio workout, walking back & forth to your car. But what the hell, one goes to Sagada for the beauty of the place & not for the accommodation - just enjoy the fresh air, enjoy your walk & savor...
