We arrived late at around 21:30 from Baguio by bus (6,5 hrs) which stopped 60 meters away from Isabelo’s Inn. You can take both roads and then either walk the stairs up or down. look for the signs. if you want to see the hanging coffins you need to register in the tourism office 50 meters away (100PHP/pax), call a guide (300PHP/group) and then go to the gate of the coffins, present your slip and pay another 10PHP fee. The procedure could either be German bureaucracy or an application for an Indian tourist visa in Bangkok. Be aware that no shops are open at night so bring food and water for night check inns. best food (non fried) you find down the road at yoghurt house. at isabelo’s the gentleman was so kind to give us an upgrade to a room with an external private bathroom which was very kind. they also placed the other guests not right next to each other which made our stay very quiet.
pros: water refills for a better price than fresh bottles (reduces plastic and is better for your wallet). Don’t understand why people complain. reception gives info about how to get to e.g. buscalan by public transport. nice wooden floors and style of the guesthouse which makes is cosy. veranda & common area for hanging out. good size mirror inside the clean room plus windows you can open. smoking area on the balcony. clean, white cotton sheets (can you believe that?) although the pillow case is unfortunately polyester. plus white cotton towels. clean, private external bathroom had pretty hot shower (on and off) but the amount of water was minimal. extra toilet rolls and soap in the bathroom. curtains to darken the room and a check out at noon. super central to a few sights, the tourism office and the bus stop. thinner style matrasses so you don’t feel like lying in a hammock. walk in rate for a twin was 1.000PHP without breakfast. they helped out when the laundry was closed. convenient store just below (beer, snacks, etc…) the guesthouse. big breakfast choice you can order a la carte. (sometimes included in the rate)
room for improvement: missing wall hooks and a small bedside table between the two beds in the twin room. we used the chair. guests need to be pretty quiet as the walls are thin. there is a curfew from 22:00 in sagada - still not sure why they do that. they love rules. wifi inexistent in room no. 8 (daytime might be working) smart sim works very well - especially during night shift. the only ones in the streets at night are dogs. and they bark accordingly as soon one of them feels irritation. considering the beautiful wooden floor they unfortunately have these bright LED lights in the rooms and hallway. a (cheap) bamboo lamp shade would upgrade the atmosphere. missed a proper butt gun (bidet). Dislike using the same bucket for the shower (if you prefer more water than available from the shower head)
in general the stay was great and we would recommend isabelo’s inn. especially when you want to have basic, clean rooms, centrally located and close to bus stop and...
Read moreMy group rented 2 rooms over 4 nights in March. I think the current Tripadvisor rating of 4 stars for this place is a accurate reflection - nice but not fantastic. Most of the northern Phillipines mountains lack significant infrastructure and so the hotels that exist are all around this mid-range market. There is nothing luxurious here.||||Here are my thoughts on the Isabelo Inn.||PROS||* CLEAN - Very very clean. In fact every time I passed the hosts they were usually cleaning something, which was very much appreciated.||* POWER PLUG - I know this sounds strange but this is a luxury in the North||* LOCATION - Located very close to the coda lines bus depot but on a slight side street so you didn't get street noise. You can walk to here from the bus station. You can walk from here to pretty much all of the attractions like echo valley, etc. The tourist office was just next door for organising guided tours.||* VALUE - 900 Philippine peso for a double room with private bathroom a night ||* BREAKFAST - Man the breakfast here was good! The omelettes were I think 150-180p and used the freshest ingredients. ||* SERVICE - Friendly staff||* ROOM - The room was fairly big and the whole place was finished with wood to give that log cabin feel. ||||CONS||* WIFI - scatty. It didn't really reach our rooms consistently. It was best used on the ground floor at breakfast time but easily became slow if there were too many users. ||* BATHROOM - Hot water was good but the bathroom had bad pressure. It also was one of those shower + toilet in same room situations so it was hard to keep the toilet dry. We couldn't flush our toilet paper so had to keep it in the bin next to the toilet, but this didn't get changed when we were there so it subsequently made the bathroom stink and the smell permeated into the room to a minor degree.||* WATER - Had to pay for filtered water at 15 peso for 1.5L.||||Overall this is a great option in the fairly limited sagada market. It has some minor drawbacks but is a comfortable...
Read moreA hidden gem that is conveniently placed in the heart of the municipality, just across the Tourist Center. The location is very ideal for tourists who are primarily hiring guides, for eating out and buyung souvenirs as it is walking distance from most restaurants and souvenir shops.
The owners are accomodating enough and will even suggest places for you to visit. They also serve breakfast and coffee, and can refill your water containers for 5php per 250mL. The rooms come with a bed, a closet, a mirror, outlets, a lone window, towels and blankets. The comfort room depends on what kind of room you'll get, ours was shared with the floor. They have wifi! And, the most important thing in the chilly province of Sagada, is that their showers have water heaters!
One thing i disliked about it was how thin the walls are, and that you could hear every little footstep towards and from the comfort rooms and the stairs. But, Sagada is generally quiet so it's not much of an issue unless you're picky.
Pros: ✓ Right across the tourist center ✓ Excellent location for food and souvenirs ✓ Serves breakfast and coffee (not free) ✓ Has drinking water (not free) ✓ Decent wifi connection ✓ Showers have water heaters
Cons: • Walls are thin • Blankets are too thin for my taste • Only one socket :( • A little steep, so don't come home drunk or you'll probably fall down the...
