The place is incredibly clean with hot and cold shower, 3 charging outlets, AC, TV (though we're not able to use it since there weren't any printed instructions how to turn it on/navigate, etc. -- sure there is a remote but it's not working), clean white bath towels, mugs, a water pitcher, 2 pairs of slippers, and a water dispenser for drinking water on the hallway. Internet is okay during the evening and quite spotty during the day. Reception is zero for Globe network. Bring a spare/alternative pocket Wi-Fi. The down side is that the mode of payment is not indicated on booking.com -- whether it's need to pay at the property upon check-in or to card will be charged upon reservation. Their reception doesn't have access of the booking on booking.com as well. Prepare your vaccination cards since it will be asked upon check-in. No option for card payments, only GCash or cash in Philippine peso. Deposit is Php1,000 collected upon check-in and given back upon checkout. Guards are on standby 24/7 at the entrance. Also, the neighborhood is quite close to each other and karaoke can be heard from the 2nd floor room.
If you're visiting Manila for a business trip or for an important appointment, this may not be the best option for a place to stay since it's located near the slums. You may need an hour or more to book a taxi since the road going here is quite small and busy. Or you may need to walk at least 1.5 kilometers passing through the slums or hire a tricycle for Php30 fare to go to the main road and...
Read morePros: Cheap but decent, and the staffs are friendly and attentive.
Cons: My room is in the ground floor near the receiving area so I hear majority of outside noises. The staffs sometimes forget that they are working for a hotel and speak and laugh with each other WAY too loud that I ended up calling them out. They kept quiet for like an hour and went back to their old ways. Another major problem is the construction during my stay. I could have tolerated it if it only lasted for few hours but it literally lasted the whole day. Two days to be precise. So imagine me, a traveler with jetlag and hoping to get some peaceful rest during my quarantine, didn’t experience what I was hoping for. I woke up several times from my sleep due to the sound of construction or hotel staffs talking loudly. Very frustrating.
PS. Buy food from them at your own risk. The taste is fine but it’s overpriced for the quality and quantity. Better order from online...
Read moreOK I wasn't expecting a Marriott, but man this is not for me. I decided to book a 5 day stay for self quarantine prior to meeting family and friends. I guess I was thinking I just needed a place and my niece said OYO was like Red Planet. The place is secluded, need to walk maybe 150 meters to reach Boni so Grab or taxi are your best options if walking isn't your thing. There isn't an elevator so elders be warned. Can't really put it any other way, the bathroom bidet was leaking, tiles had black mold, sink was leaking, foul odor was emanating from outside thru the window, the linen should be retired. Friendly staff always greeting you is really the only highlight. Sadly that alone would not make me return. Definitely not like any of the Red Planets...
