Majestic Hotel Manila (formerly Octagon Mansion Hotel) — Hotel in Manila

Very bad service! We booked last night, April 9, 2018. The remote of the television is not working. So I decided to call the front office only to realize that the phone is not connected to its port bec it has no wire. So i have to go down to the lobby by myself instead of just calling the room service. We actually booked late night and it is the time when my husband and i would just like to rest but because of these problems, we have to deffer our resting time and wait for the room service to repair the phone. Jimmy, the one who repaired tge phone line is also arrogant. As per their website. Room accomodations has free internet access but the signal/connection is intermitent. And this is the only hotel that says they are not responsible on the signal strength of its connection. Why would they indicate this facility in their website if there is ko guarantee? And as per their website, they provide hair dryer and alarm but it was nowhere to be found. It also has dilapidated ceiling paint in the bathroom. The tiles were not clean. The size of their blanket could only cover my legs.

The location is good: around 30 minutes to Imtramuros on foot, and 20 to National Museum of Anthropology or Fine Arts. There's a supermarket and several cafés and restaurants nearby.The room is a bit small but okay. Breakfast was also good (you get to choose from some dishes on offer). But! Starting from the arrival the service left much to be desired, to say the least. Early check-in would cost me more than two nights on Trip.com (i specifically inquired on the platform to find out where it was a mistake, but it wasn't). Then the luggage storage would be for free for the first five hours, and then 50 php per hour - they didn't even notify me about that, and i just came across this information by chance. Even worse, one receptionist told me it was okay to leave my luggage at the hotel overnight, but the other one said it would cost me a one day room rate. I explained all this to the receptionist, but with no understanding on their part. That was extremely disappointing, especially because i had already made plans based on this and had to rearrange them...

I found this hotel to be sparkling clean and very nice. The room had a fridge, modern air conditioner with remote, a safe, and they included some bottled water a kettle etc. I believe this hotel has been renovated so it feels new and is very clean. The shower had hot running water and not one of those electric water heaters on the wall. Reception area and staff was perfect. When I came a little early they were well organized and had bag storage with tags and everything felt clean and well managed. Thank you to the staff who are working hard. I stayed in a room for single travelers which was probably smaller than the standard rooms but was cheaper. It was great. Location is very convenient to Robinson's Mall. You might hear some noise from local bars and clubs but it isn't bad and certainly didn't have any impact on my sleep. The internet was very fast. This is a great choice in this price range if you want something...
