This was a great hotel for my first yet short visit to the city and I’d certainly consider staying again in the future. I took advantage of the hotel’s car service for the transfer from the airport which worked well and takes around half an hour late in the evening. On arrival the staff were friendly and the check in process was fairly quick, however it was frustrating that despite the signs and booking information stating, they apparently couldn’t accept American Express as payment / deposit.
My room was on the eleventh floor, with four large lifts serving the whole building very quickly and never a need to wait long. The first thing which struck with the Deluxe King room was the size - it was huge, almost too big! A large hallway area complete with dining table and four chairs, living area with sofa and arm chair, plenty of space around the bed with TV unit, chaise lounge, huge bed and more storage space than many have at home. There is no way even during an extended stay the space would begin to feel cramped and the lighting, effective air-conditioning and decent view over the bay made it extra comfortable.
The bathroom was equally as impressive with two sinks, plenty of storage space, separate area for the toilet and self contained shower and bath section. The bath was deep and very wide, although the rain forest head of the shower wasn’t as effective as I’d hoped and acting more as a spray. All the toiletries and amenities you’d expect were present and everywhere was spotlessly clean.
There were a few minor disappointments with the room. Firstly there was no guide to the hotel services and with so many facilities, restaurants etc this was a shame. The white bedsheets had a few marks on, including a hole in the fitted sheet at the base. The mini bar was empty and although there was an electric socket at both sides of the bed, it was at floor level and some distance away to be less than ideal. However sleep quality each night was great and it more than met expectations.
Breakfast was a very thorough affair with live cooking stations, plenty of pastries and breads, salad, hot buffet and fruit. The selection of fruit juices could probably be improved but the staff were really proactive at bringing hot drinks. Tables were large, it was a nice relaxing atmosphere, and just a shame it was only open until 10am.
The swimming pool is a nice area. Although an outdoor space it is sheltered from the sun by the hotel tower and a pleasant space to relax. Unobtrusive music and a bar with really friendly staff make it a great escape from the city bustle. The food menu has a good range at great prices too.
There’s plenty of seating in the lobby area if you need to hang around for any reason, but the ground floor lobby bar is also a great space. There’s a mix of seating with a good menu for both food and drink. Evenings come with live music of a high quality and the staff are really professional and proactive.
Checking out was really good with the member of staff being genuine and seeming to really care if my stay had been positive. The concierge team were superb at sorting out transport to the airport and it was a great final reminder as to how great all the staff here are.
Overall I was really happy with my stay here. The location is brilliant and it offers great value for money. With the spacious room, great level of service from all the staff and facilities I have...
Read moreHow is this even a 5-star hotel? Complete waste of money.
I honestly don’t understand how New Coast Hotel Manila still has a 5-star rating — because what we experienced was far from 5-star service, comfort, or hospitality.
We recently stayed here with two senior citizens, and the entire experience was stressful, frustrating, and outright disrespectful. There are no proper facilities or consideration for elderly guests. One of the elevators was broken, the rest were overcrowded or unreliable, and there were zero accommodations like ramps or staff assistance. We struggled the entire time helping our elderly companions navigate their poorly designed “5 star hotel”.
The hallways, rooms, and even the lobby reeked of cigarette smoke, making it completely unsuitable for non-smokers, kids, or anyone with respiratory issues. And when we complained, the response was basically, “That’s just how it is.” Completely unacceptable.
But the worst part? The service is disgustingly biased. Unless you’re Chinese or spending big money at their casino, expect to be ignored, brushed off, or treated like you don’t belong there. The staff would literally trip over themselves to accommodate high rollers, while the rest of us were left fending for ourselves. It genuinely felt like we were being judged and talked about behind our backs — cold stares, whispers, and zero hospitality.
Security is a joke. Anyone can walk in and out of the hotel without question. There are no security checks, barely any visible guards, and absolutely no sense of guest safety. You’re basically left to fend for yourself.
And the parking situation is a nightmare. It’s located on the opposite side of the hotel, and you’ll have to go through a ridiculous series of elevators and corridors just to get to your room from the car. Totally disorganized, poorly signposted, and again — no help from staff.
The staff are poorly trained, and it’s clear they’ve been coached to cater only to high-rollers and casino clientele. If you’re a regular tourist, a Filipino family, or just not throwing money around — you are not welcome here. It’s as simple as that.
Again, I ask: How is this a 5-star hotel? Based on what? The casino? The smell of smoke? The indifferent staff? The lack of safety and decency? It’s insulting to actual 5-star establishments that prioritize all guests, not just the wealthy and favored few.
Do yourself a favor — don’t waste your hard-earned money here. There are far better hotels in Manila that will actually treat you with respect and provide the basic service and safety you deserve.
One star is too generous. Stay...
Read moreLarge but very dated rooms well in need of major refurbishment.
The wifi is terrible, worse than most budget hotels. The Wi-Fi would drop out every 5 to 10 seconds throughout the entire stay it was absolutely pathetic!
The rooms are large but very outdated with old outdated furniture and there are no power points to charge your phone by the bed. PowerPoints are very minimal and not of the modern international style so you need an adaptor and only two PowerPoints except the adaptor out of the whole room.
I read a number of reviews and the door staff and security of friendly but the rest of the staff I couldn't say they were friendly at all.
The management of this hotel apathetic because when i respond to review, play simply make false claims and lie
The beds are quite hard and old but the pillows were comfortable. All of the furnishings the carpet the PowerPoints the light fittings everything all needs replacing and is long overdue.
There is an older style 40 inch smart TV with a reasonable range of English speaking channels but very poor reception it was like trying to watch anything through a snowstorm that along with the very poor Internet was unacceptable in a five-star hotel. Management replied stating the TVs have been recently updated that is just rubbish. I pathetic small 40 inch TV is not an acceptable soso standard for a 5 star hotel and i have experienced much better TVs in size and quality in budget hotels
Basically speaking it's overpriced for what you get and I've had much better quality TV and Wi-Fi in budget hotels.
The staff at the fitness centre and reception very blunt and ignorant and I want you to register to go and look at the swimming pool I'm lucky you serious I registered to check into the hotel and I don't feel like leaving all my personal details lying around for someone else to read with the risk of identity theft. I got a very rude response from the belligerent woman so I didn't bother.
The new Coast hotel is in major need of a refurbishment in the rooms and I wouldn't bother coming back until that occurred and they improved things like updating their TVs...
