Avoid at all costs. Some hotels are disappointing. Others are simply bad. And then, there’s this place—where you start wondering if they’re actively trying to make the experience unpleasant. Let’s start with their deposit system. Requiring a deposit is perfectly reasonable. However, their insistence that it must be in local currency (pesos) is not. As European travelers leaving the country immediately after checkout, we preferred to leave the deposit in euros to avoid unnecessary currency exchange hassles. But, in their infinite wisdom, they refused. And that was just the beginning. The room? Absolutely unacceptable. Tiny, outdated, and in desperate need of renovation. Everything inside looked like it belonged in a museum, with the “newest” item appearing to be at least 20 years old. But the real issue? The filth. The level of dirt was unbelievable, and we have photo evidence to prove it. In the picture of the wall we uploaded, you can clearly see a bright white patch in the center—that’s the section we cleaned. The rest of the wall? Pure grime. That’s how disgusting the place was. To make matters worse, when we complained about the cleanliness, the receptionist told us that if we wanted a better room, we could pay extra. Unbelievable. Luckily, the next morning, we found a more reasonable receptionist who moved us to a cleaner room. As for everything else: • The A/C? One of the worst we’ve ever encountered. • The bed? Too short—I barely fit, and I’m only 1.83m. • The WiFi? Virtually nonexistent. Watching a one-minute video takes about 6–8 minutes with all the buffering. • The breakfast? Forgettable at best. Honestly, the only positive thing about this hotel is its location. But trust me, there are far better options nearby. Stay somewhere else. (In the photos, we had cleaned the room ourselves—obviously—to prove just how disgustingly dirty they are.)

Manila Lotus Hotel – Extremely Disappointing Experience I arrived at Manila Lotus Hotel yesterday and was extremely disappointed from the moment I entered my room. While check-in was relatively smooth, the room itself was unacceptable. First, there was a strong unpleasant smell as soon as I walked in. The bedding was inadequate—there was only a sheet covering the mattress and a thin fleece blanket, with no additional top sheet provided. When I checked the bed, I found someone else’s hair under the sheet, which was very unhygienic. The floor clearly hadn’t been mopped—there was visible debris and sparkles left over from a previous guest. The refrigerator was leaking constantly, and worst of all, there was mold everywhere: in the shower, on the bathroom walls, and even on the parquet floor. The room was also extremely small and did not resemble what was shown on Booking.com. I immediately went to the front desk to ask for another room, explaining that the current one didn’t meet my expectations or match the listing. Instead of addressing my concerns, the staff told me I’d have to pay extra for an upgrade. I declined and asked for a basic room that was clean and mold-free. They initially said they would clean another room for me, then later told me there were no other rooms available. Eventually, I told them I could not stay under these conditions and requested a refund. They refused, claiming I had “used the room” for two hours—which is untrue, as I spent that time trying to get the issue resolved. Additionally, the surrounding area felt unsafe. When it rained, the entire street flooded. Between the mold, poor hygiene, refusal to accommodate reasonable concerns, and lack of safety, I strongly advise others to avoid this hotel. This experience was far below what any traveler should expect.

It's really a mixed bag. The rooms are super basic and the beds are not great. I understand why the air condition is kept off while you are not in the room but it's a window unit that takes about ten minutes to get going, which, because that coincides with your arrival, makes for some discomfort. Terrible view, like an air shaft. The breakfast is free and it's merely okay. There's a silly amount of paperwork conducted with a very formal procedure that seemed so over-the-top I was wondering if I was on candid camera. Having said all that, the service and staff were friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. I was late for the green breakfast but the guys cleaning up provided me with coffee, toast, and fruit. They might have provided more food and bev if I let them. The people cleaning the room were very good and provided a lot of water, which is crucial. And in the evening, I had dinner at the restaurant, and the service there was positively doting. Google maps doesn't seem to have a separate listing for the restaurant, Cilantro, so I'll include it here. I very much liked the quality and variety of the restaurant . I am by no means a maven of Filipino cuisine but I really liked what I had here. I ordered the Sinuglaw (from Cebu!) and the Beef Caldereta to form my own sort of surf and turf. Both delicious and washed down with fresh Calamansi juice. The restaurant was a five and brings the rating up to a four

We stayed here for 4 days. We chose it because it's close to the US Embassy (the reason we went to Manila) and also to Manila Ocean Park and some malls. It's also close to Rizal Park, but we didn't get the chance to go there this trip.

The staff was very helpful throughout our stay. They tried to accommodate us in every way possible. We have 3 children (9, 7, and 3) and the hotel staff made sure that all of us, including the children, always felt comfortable.

The buffet breakfast that comes free for up to 2 adults and 2 children (Php 150 for extra people) was quite good. There wasn't a ton of selection every morning, but the food they did have was tasty. Each morning we stayed there, they had slightly different things, but they always had cereal (corn flakes and bran flakes), assorted tropical fruit, and assorted breads and jams/jellies. They also always had rice (it is the Philippines, after all). Most mornings they would have 2 or 3 meat dishes (including a seafood dish), an egg dish, and a vegetable dish. One morning they also had pancakes.

The restaurant in the hotel, Cilantro, had some pretty decent food. In both pricing and taste, it was on par or even slightly better than most of the casual sit-down restaurants in the Philippines. The main restaurant area is also a bar and they allow smoking, so we avoided that part, but they also have an extension to the restaurant (where they serve the breakfast buffet) that's separated enough from the rest that the smoke never reaches it. The waiters/waitresses were all very nice and attentive. Another plus for the hotel is that if you order room service from the restaurant, there is no extra charge. That's pretty rare no matter what country you're in.

We stayed in the Deluxe Room with Kitchenette. It wasn't quite like the room shown on the website, but it was close. The kitchenette part didn't include anything to cook food, not even a microwave, but it did include a sink and a mini fridge. The mini fridge was, of course, stocked with items they wanted you to use so they could charge it to your room but that's expected in just about any hotel nowadays. It still had just enough spare room to store a few small items of our own. The room came with two queen-size beds. The mattresses were a bit too firm for my wife and I, but that's really a personal preference and wasn't a huge problem. The only somewhat major problem with the room was the shower. It had good water pressure and had both hot and cold water, but the hot water would go in and out. One moment you'd be taking a normal shower and the next you'd be in a sauna as the hot water increased in pressure and made the overall temperature increase as well. The swings in pressure and temperature seemed too regular to be the flushing of toilets or other uses of water in the hotel. Luckily it never got so hot it was a safety issue, just annoying.

The only other complaint I have about the hotel in general is that after the first night, the WiFi just stopped working. Their network just disappeared. It never got fixed, even after multiple calls to the front desk. That was the only failing of the hotel staff the entire time we were there.

Overall, this is a hotel that I would return to. We did...

This hotel is an absolute dive, proper disgusting place, dirty, old pictures used, just very very poor, I booked with hotels.com and left a review that's somehow gone missing, when we arrived we were greeted by a lovely gentleman at the door, but externally the place and the door canopy looked filthy, unwashed and in need of a refurb, I thought it cannot be like this internally! Low and behold the reception area looked OK, but behind reception looked as if the steel metal "lockboxes/pigeon holes" looked as if they had been attacked and broken open, we checked in and was given our ONE keycard for room (room 405) we went into the only small lift and took our luggage up to our room, every window on route to our room overlooked the ramshackle buildings that were filthy as well, filthy and noisy air-conditioning machines that looked like they had been dragged out of a swamp, upon arrival of our room we opened the door to a strong smell of bleach, had a few moments to get our bearings and check the room out, tried to turn the aircon on with the broken and food wrapped/cling filmed remote that eventually decided to work, then looked at the shower unit and toilet, there was a window in the corner with the curtains closed, we opened the curtains to see our view of other air-conditioning units and dirty old buildings and courtyards, the bathroom's grout in between the tiles had been badly re grouted with what looked like some bright pink chewing gum! Which fell off the wall once it had seen some water, the toilet was the only clean part of the bathroom, the sink was dirty and had a funny smell, NOW.. the bedroom was quite large, one double bed, one white sheet covering the ill fitting mattress protector, with some brown very thin blanket with NO top white sheet, when we held the blanket up to the light, it was heavily stained with what looked like "oil patches" there was no other sheets / blankets / duvet covers in the room, two pillows with cases on the bed, another two in the cupboard in the corner, no cases and full of what looked like cigarette burns on the pillows, I used a bath towel as my pillow case, only to see the while towel looked used and stained!!!!! After the air-conditioning had been on for sometime, it spewed yellow water Down the wall, leaving what looked like to be nicotine stains in a non smoking room. The room was never cleaned, only the bin emptied, we stayed here for four nights, the only saving grace was the breakfast and the door staff, this place would be ideal if you were homeless, but I would not let my neighbours mange ridden dog stay here. The place was full of local phillipino people, the location was dodgy with local kids grabbing you and putting their hands in your pockets (obviously told to do this by adults) just a scummy place proper dirty and scummy. Never had we ever stayed in such a poor hotel, mis-sold and very very dodgy. Stay here at...

Don’t be fooled with their nice lobby and restaurant because the rooms are terrible. I booked a superior room (wanted to relax b4 going back to our home but they gave me and my boyfriend a lot of stress). They gave us a dirty room and the employee said it is their best room. The bedsheets are not fresh, their is a small cockroach in the toilet, the water was not going up during showering and the worst part is you cannot upgrade to their grand superior room because they said “first the Manila lotus old building must be fully booked first” and why they did build the other building. (I doubt, there is no other building) I was willing tp pay for more comfort and they didn’t accommodate us. At night before going to be everything was itchy. I saw my legs red and we thing that i got bed bugs allergies because of their unfresh bedsheets and matras. The hotel looks and feels that we are in year 70. The lobby was modern but the rooms are really tereible and old. I complained and they offered a room with 2 single bed and along the street side. We just said yes because it was already 12:15 midnight and we thought it was a better idea to move from the dirty room but we didn’t realized that Ermita was such a busy place and we can hear almost every car passing by. IT’S NOT WORTH THE MONEY, because we paid a lot more. We tried Hop Inn hotel ermita, much cheaper and super clean. We are not recommending Manila lotus Hotel at all. Instead of relaxing we just got super stress. The next day i talked to the front desk manager and they gave me an upgrade, she was really understanding and considered are situtaion. She gave us an upgaded, I paid 840 per night more but the room was still the same style, almost the same bed & comfort room but with a kitchen in it we didn’t even used. Yes it was clean and fresh. Furthermore the employees are super nice and accommodating. I understand it’s out of their control that the rooms are old. We can barely with a lot of things, but the first night was just not okay. We were so tired and just wanted to rest but instead we got...
