A Frustrating Stay: Poor Communication Turns a Simple Night Into a Ordeal

I booked a room a day in advance, planning a straightforward overnight stay—arrive by 7 PM, grab a meal, explore briefly, and rest early for a 6 AM departure. Unfortunately, what should have been effortless turned into a logistical nightmare due to the hotel’s glaring oversights.

Upon arriving at 7:30 PM, I found no clear instructions for entry—despite the "confirmed reservation" page mentioning check-in details. There was no door code, key box, or staff present (despite the note saying that there will be staff till 22.30). Only the kindness of a fellow guest prevented me from being stranded outside. Attempts to call or message the hotel went unanswered, leaving me no choice but to consider booking (and paying for) another room while awaiting a refund for this one—a process that could have taken weeks.

Thankfully, ebookers.fi’s customer support intervened promptly with a refund, but by then, hours had been wasted. Exhausted, sweaty, and now scrambling for last-minute lodging, I didn’t settle elsewhere until 1 AM.

Adding insult to injury, while waiting outside, another guest asked if I knew the Wi-Fi password—revealing that even if I’d gained entry, I’d have been left hunting for basic amenities.

The Verdict: A hotel’s most fundamental duty is providing secure, accessible accommodations with clear instructions. Failing to supply door codes, Wi-Fi details, or emergency contact information is inexcusable. Very descent place to stay over night to recharge. The service will allow you in at any time although it is better to check in and hit the town.
