Hilton Garden Inn Krakow — Hotel in Krakow

I am travelling 15 days and staying at 15 different Hilton properties in Poland in order to maintain my Diamond status. So this is my review of last nights stay at Hilton Garden Inn Krakow

I had e-checked in to the junior suite (not upgraded, but paid room). As I was staying in Doubletree Krakow I did call the hotel to see if the room was available so I could check out from the present hotel to HGI. The gentlemen from front desk who answered the phone told me that the room is indeed ready BUT check-in time is 15:00 so if I want to come at noon (3 hours earlier) I need to pay 50% of the room rate (about 180PZL). Diamond or not does not matter, that is the rules.

That was the most ridiculous thing I have heard for a long time. I can understand if the room was not cleaned yet or if I was checking in early in the morning but around 12-12:30 the staff should have been more flexible. Management definitely needs to pay some attention to this.

So I arrive at 14:40 instead and still I was forced to wait 25 min in the lobby as they were to "check" the room. The lady at the front desk told me it will take 5 minutes, but after 25 min waiting in the lobby I had enough and apparently the room was ready so she handed me the keys.

It is worth mentioning that at least the front desk staff must have missed Hiltons instructions of how to greet the guests. It was not welcoming and no recognition, no thank you for loyalty, no welcome letter NOTHING!!

The room large and the view was nice (see photo). However when charging almost 400PLZ for a suite as they charge in for example Doubletree or Hilton, you do have certain requests for quality.

The furniture is somewhat outdated, Tvs are small and old, the air condition is not functioning properly (shows 19 degrees, but the room was about 22-23 degrees). The bedroom only have one power outlet on the right side of the bed. There is no more on the walls except one behind the TV. So if you are a couple, you need to fight who that can charge it´s phone and/or smartwatch. I ended up charging in the bathroom.

Breakfast was busy but adequate. They had a system that you cannot pick anything yourself, but you point and the staff will give it to you.

on the positive side,they do not charge the 40PLZ as advertised on their website right now. The location is also Ok, not in city, but close by. it is abut 20 min walk to town or 12PLZ uber/Bolt ride.

So, in total the hotel has potential and only by educating the fromt desk staff to be more service minded and greet the Diamond members properly they have taken a giant...
