These people are fraudsters. Do not under any circumstance book a place here or at any of there other accommodations. They will charge you hundreds of euros in so called damages weeks after your stay without any communication at all.
The place is cheap filled with IKEA and filthy overall with no security whatsoever. No locks or any of the doors including bathrooms, the ensuite door doesn't even close! The aircons are really noisy and are too small for the space so don't work properly. The BBQ looks like something died there. The front door takes ridiculously long to open so is such a pain after a long day. The beds are tiny and uncomfortable, the lighting is an absolute joke, barely see anything probably to save them money.
This will be your worst holiday, please stay away from this place.

-Such liars, they have not sent any photos to me or anything. No message or phone calls. No communication whatsoever. There is no 'claim' to dispute.
-They have already charged me, liars again. They directly charged my card €310 and luckily my bank froze the charge! (check attached screenshot of charge yesterday and the chat response!)
We left the place immaculate. Everything was checked and nothing was damaged to the slightest. See how they didn't even mention what was apparently damaged in their response?
-Time stamped photos of damage? That doesn't prove anything as there were many things damaged before we arrived! So you charge every guest for previous damages!
-The video is of ensuite door that neither shuts nor locks. The other 2 bathrooms don't even have a lock! None of the rooms do!
-The front door takes 15 seconds to open, not 3 seconds. And has nothing to do with security. You're using a cheap lock which is ridiculously slow and noisy, which is easy to hack as well.
These people couldn't care less about your safety or security!

So we ended up that one person had to sleep on the floor and another one on the couch in the living room. The handling of the problem through Check-in-Portugal was nonprofessionell and rude. Two cleaning ladies had a quick look at the room and told us that the bites of our little girl and her mother on their body were caused by mosquitos. But during our whole stay in the flat, we didn't see or hear any mosquito at all! Medical experts and even the local pharmacie told us that the bites are from bedbugs and not from mosquitos. After the two ladies left, they told us that a person in charge will contact us later, which never happened. 2 weeks later, when we wanted to know what they are going to do. Check-in-Portugal answered they closed the case without giving us any informations. Afterwards they didn't answer at all! It's a rip off to rent such an expensive flat as a 3 room flat and 2 are only able to be used. We would have never ever hired the flat of Check-in-Portugal if we would have known the problem ahead. There have been plenty of 2 bedroom flats in the aera to a much cheaper price! Check-in-Portugal was a big disappointment. Don't book...
Read moreWe rented an apartment 'Mar' from 'Check in Portugal' at the end of August 2025. The apartment was very dated, with old furniture and bedding, a small kitchen that smelt of drains, and for 3 days we had no hot water. Eventually 'Check-in Portugal' who manages the apartment eventually got it fixed, but for the money we paid and the lack of service by them and they insist on taking an extra 250euro deposit despite us booking through Airbnb. And they didn't give it all back due to some missing pool passes (some pieces of card they took 18 euros off for with no communication why, until we asked) reading other reviews, they do this alot.. the smallest of reasons they will not give you all your deposit back. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
The check in experience (ironically !!) was also painful, and took ages to actually pay the deposit and the links they sent wouldn't expect payment, website errors etc and we tried a number of different payment cards etc. This was midday, so if you arrived any other time like later at night and you'd be in trouble.
