BORDALLO'S PRIME APARTMENTS — Hotel in Caldas da Rainha

The apartment “Parodia” is a great, bright and clean place to stay in Caldas, especially with the Fruit and Vegetable Market at the doorstep, located really in the center from where the quaint town can be explored. It has been nicely decorated - even when the sofa is a little worn and with stains and the kitchen furniture and equipment got its signs of usage (the water kettle is working but is rusty and cculd be replaced…)

The bedroom has a good mattress, it is a bit narrow, but you only sleep in it (one of the light bulbs is not working well). The water in the shower is hot.

The house is totally renovated, however, with a steep and narrow staircase. This is the only catch: no lift to the 3rd floor, which is difficult when you suffer from physical problems or need to take up heavy luggage, or bringing you shopping (water bottles).

If one comes with a car one should note that it can be only unloaded and loaded in front of the house: the seemingly free places are all reserved for the farmers of the market and taxi drivers and there is a risk of being towed away by the police or at least having to pay a penalty. However, there is a large parking area a little further up the road behind the Chafariz das Cinco Bicas, which is free of charge.

If you are in need of organic food, on top of the fruits and veggies from the Praça da Fruta there is a store opposite the Chafariz das Cinco Bicas, which has quite a variety of products.

Caldas is an amazing place to explore for its architecture, art places and little shops (of the big malls). Highly recommended also due to the vicinity...

Perfect location to see everything and attend the many arts and cultural activities in the heart of Caldas, directly above the fruit and flower market, and close to the fish market. Parking was a breeze in the public lot about 80 metres away from the apartment. Great cafés and pastelerias 2-3 doors away from BPA. Eduardo responded to all of our inquires in a timely fashion. Larger bed was queen size, and quite comfortable. Smaller bunk beds also comfortable. Had all the conveniences we needed for a month long stay - so we will look to return...

Fiquei alojada no apartamento Lanterna Mágica, que era acolhedor e bem decorado. O check in e as entradas no apartamento foram muito facilitadas com o código para as portas e o anfitrião foi muito simpático. A cama de casal era confortável, mas o quarto não tinha espaço para arrumar a roupa (tivemos que guardar as coisas no quarto com beliche que estava vago). A cozinha estava bem equipada mas era muito pequena, com a mesa rebatível aberta foi difícil movermo-nos lá dentro. O lavatório da casa de banho também era muito pequeno e com a torneira na lateral, o que não era funcional. A água quente acabava durante o banho da 2a pessoa, pelo que foi necessário passar a fazer um intervalo entre os dois banhos. Quando chegámos a limpeza da casa de banho não tinha sido bem feita, existiam pelos/cabelos no tampo da sanita e na banheira e água dentro do copo do suporte para as escovas de dentes. Forneceram berço e roupa de cama para a nossa filha de 2 anos mas não tinha colchão, tivemos de improvisar com edredons do outro quarto. A localização é boa, mesmo em frente à praça da fruta mas não tem estacionamento no local, é preciso deixar o carro numa outra zona mais à frente, que é concorrida.
