Funchal Paradise — Hotel in Funchal

The only good thing about this accommodation is the location, everything else is bad for this price. The room was located on third floor, there was elevator but inside was super hot and smelly. Lock on the door of the apartment is broken, so it’s wiggling all the time, so you need to have patience with that, when done with that, the door gets stuck halfway then you need to push it with force. Apartment itself looks like somebody’s Grandma is living there, decor from 2000, kitchen’s cutlery very minimalistic. In the bathroom sink water is slowly washing away, so you need to be careful not to overflow it. Hot water runs out quickly in the shower. Beds are not comfortable and low on the ground. In the facilities is written flat tv screen, tv is from 2005 so basically you cannot to anything with it + pretty small and wrong positioning. Wifi is not working, tried to contact the owner for the problem, she replied disconnect the router and plug back again, like we didn’t tried that before. Problem still remained. We received only 1 big towel and 1 small towel for our whole 7 day stay. Asked the owner if we could get some extra towels, we were left on seen 2 times. The communication with owner was a complete disaster. Overall i wouldn’t not recommend this...

Not enough hot water…

Booked a room for 4, with a sofa bed. Here is a sum up of the issues:

as we entered the house smelled like sewers. We opened the windows to let it pass and contacted the host, she said she would come the morning after, she never showed up.

Not enough HOT WATER to shower, not even 2 persons one after the other. The owner was informed on morning after check-in and she never showed up to apartment or offered a real solution. Her solution was to take shower at different times of the day.

seriousness of the host, she said she would come tho check the issues we were having and she never came nor contacted us to check on the situation.

Find another place to stay in Funchal!

For the price it’s good value. No outside space though and no iron or ironing board despite having a washing machine. WiFi also dreadful. We've been spoilt in the island for WiFi as it’s virtually 4G everywhere. Room perfect size for us really although the bathroom in closet inspection shows the shower screen isn’t quite as clean as it should be. Still small...
