I have been eating in quite a few places on the island in the last 8 days so I am definetely able to compare quality, price, quantity, etc...I was shocked by my limpets portion plate....quite a JOKE. Started with a glass of Poncha, creme catalan for desert slightly spoiled by the house variant which is doused in sambucca and set alight. Creme catalan and aniseed is a flavour too far. Finished with coffee and madiera and a complementary passion fruit liquor. Staff were old school and very pro. Atmosphere jolly, mostly non Portuguese diners, some posh Brits. Grilled dorada is well done but still moist and fleshy, unlike in other places. Mixed seafood with rice is full of flavours. You never wait too long for your meal. The octopus is soft and not chewy (they love garlic there though). The staff make you feel welcome, are a pleasure to chat to (even when you meet them in the street the next day), and deserve full respect for what they do. You get a welcome taster of Madeira wine...
