Ivens Residence — Hotel in Funchal

Apartment quality is great but a lot of things by 'An Island Apart' that had let us down.

Transfer from airport to accomodation was late. It was already 1-2am and we did not enjoy having to wait further despite our delayed flight.

Breakfast accidentally ordered on a unavailable date but no rectification, despite contacting the agency. Claims "no responsibility" or association for this mistake but phone number for breakfast is directly linked to the agency. For such a small amount of money we didn't appreciate the strong defensive position the company had over a small matter. We were asked questions left right and centre in a condescending manner.

Welcome message and instructions delivered AFTER we settled into the place a couple hours after mid-day.

We were going to use their other services and offered activities in their site but we were really put off. If we had a problem we felt that we wouldn't be in a fair...

What a magical place! A wonderful oasis in the middle of Funchal. We spent two fantastic weeks there. A very comfortable apartment with everything we could need. A comfortable kitchen to make our own dinner (and eat it on our own terrace) or many options to eat out within walking distance. Vanessa, our host, was such a warm and helpful person.
