The flat was exactly like the photos and as described, everything looked really new and recently refurbished. Quite rare to find such a well-stocked AirBnB kitchen with cooker, oven, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine (though we only stayed 1 night and didn't use any of them). The host had left a helpful folder with all the appliance instruction manuals, and some maps and leaflets of the city (all in languages other than English). The flat was quiet, but we stayed on a Thursday night in March, and I can imagine it might get a bit loud on weekends/in the summer, when more people are hanging around in the bars and restaurants outdoors (there's a small bar/restaurant a few steps away from the entrance). The flat we chose was the ground floor one (as we had a knee issue and couldn't climb stairs) and it was smack bang in the center of the city, and very accessible (everything you might want to see is 5-15 min walk away). The host gave us the door code in advance so we could go into the flat, but her boutique is 1 min walk away and so we popped by to say hi and meet her after we left our suitcases in the flat. Quick reminder that there is no parking in the historic center, so the closest 24hr free parking is at Campo das Hortas, 600m/7 min walk from the flat (and you will have to drag your suitcases over mostly cobbled streets/sidewalks).||||A few issues: It was really cold in the flat in mid-March (14 degrees Celsius) and the 2 small electric heaters did not manage to heat even the bedroom to more than 16 degrees in the 1 day we stayed, so we were really cold (inside the bed it was fine as there was a warm duvet + extra blanket). There’s also no aircon unit we could use (most have a “heating” setting). It would have been good if the host had turned the heating on in advance, so that so that the flat could be warm when we arrived. There was also a strong smell of rubbish at the entrance & kitchen area when we first arrived (it went away later on), and after we took a shower the bathroom smelt a lot like sewage. We let the host know, and they said they suspected what caused this and they would fix it after we left. Overall a great choice to stay centrally in Guimaraes, which is a stunning city (the most beautiful one we visited in our extended Portugal trip) really worth visiting.||||Air-con: No||Fridge: Yes||Safe deposit box: No||Hairdryer: Yes||Free Wi-Fi: Yes||Toiletries: Shampoo, shower gel & hand soap||Towels: Head & body + bath mat||Breakfast included: No||Walkable distance from city center: Yes, 1-15 min from all attractions||Bedside tables & reading lights: Yes, both sides||Luggage racks: Two small...
Read moreThis apartment appears to be in an ideal position for exploring, is pleasant and well equipped. HOWEVER the problems become apparent from early evening, when - out of the blue if you don’t know - noisy bars open up for the youth of Guimaraes. And continue until 2am or 3 am. With shouting, screaming, drunkenness and pounding music. Right outside this apartment. We found it scary and intimidating.||The property owner offers free earplugs. SERIOUSLY. And so is well aware of the problem but will not engage with any complaints once the money is paid.||I was criticised for not calling the Police to complain about the noise - implying that it was my fault that it was a...
