Excellent rooms, the hospitality and friendliness of the owner is unpayable!
The decently elegant flat is located on the 5th floor of a civil house in beautiful condition, next to the metro, railway and bus station. After ascending with an old-style but perfect lift we entered a very stylish, classy, brand new looking flat where the owner surprised us with his warm, friendly, homely greetings.
Mr. Gaspar is the BEST host ever!! Besides his hospitality he knows everything about his town and country and offers the best quality places to visit, to have lunch, dinner or to shop. We couldn't ask anything he couldn't answer the best way. His passion about Lisbon, history and the whole country is exceptional and moves you, too!
The rooms and bathrooms are stylish, perfectly clean, look like brand new and cleaned up every day. The bed is so comfy that it's hard to get up even if you know that Gaspar's wonderful Portuguese breakfast is waiting for you. :) Home-made, warm, served by himself and spiced up with his entertaining personality.
The whole stay is unforgettable, lovely and unique! We come back,...
Read moreOverall not the greatest experience. First off the keys used to get in to the apartment are a nightmare! It is not easy by any means and you have two difficult doors to get through. When Gaspar was demonstrating how to use the keys he made a comment “don’t struggle like the Japanese did” which I thought was very racist. There is no lights in the staircase so don’t even attempt trying those at night! The rooms are very close together and you can hear everything.. people coming in, talking, closing their doors. The breakfast is nothing to rave about, cereal and bread. The bed is stiff and pillows weren’t very comfortable. I ended up getting ill at the end of my stay and Gaspar was worried I was contagious and did not want me sitting at the breakfast table yet did not offer to bring anything to the room. The entire time my mom and I felt as though we had to tip toe around the place. We were told to be quiet after 10pm so never went out past that time for this reason and due to the place being so poor lit at night. Gaspar was very informative about how to get around. But ultimately I...
Read moreI came off the airplane to Portugal tired, grumpy, and frumpy. Naturally, I might have wallowed in this state for a day or two... or until I realized “I am in Portugal!” Thankfully, due to the incredible hospitality and personality of Gaspar himself, this wallowing was quickly put away. It took us about 5 minutes to find this gem of a hotel, once off the taxi, but there immediately greeting us with a firm handshake and a host of intelligent questions about our flight was Gaspar. He went above and beyond to inform us how we could best enjoy our brief stay in Portugal. From where to visit and how to get there, what strategies to use to avoid jet lag, weather forecasting... nothing was too much or too difficult for this guy. The Gaspar house is a 10 star quality establishment, tended to personally by this amazing Portuguese. He treats each guest like a friend... and by the end of your stay, signing his guest book... you will have found a spirit of friendship not just in Gaspar or his establishment, but in...
