My experience at Materia Restaurant was incredibly disappointing. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was dismal – old, dark, and reeking of neglect. The floors were stained and riddled with holes and cracks, while the tables and chairs were moldy, emanating a foul odor. Surprisingly, the only seemingly clean place was the bathroom. The lighting was abysmal, casting a sickly urine-yellow glow that added to the extreme discomfort. Coupled with the sauna-like temperatures, the atmosphere was suffocating and unpleasant. To exacerbate matters, the establishment's cleanliness was questionable, with reports of reused paper napkins, a gross violation of basic hygiene standards and HACCP rules. As for the food, the pizza, touted to be a specialty, was disappointingly thin and failed to deliver on its promises. Patrons, myself included, left the restaurant feeling unsatisfied and still hungry. Adding insult to injury, the management displayed shocking levels of racism and homophobia, with discriminatory treatment towards non-white individuals and LGBT patrons facing expulsion. The lack of care from the staff was evident, culminating in disturbing scenes of the chef berating employees, creating an unwelcome and chaotic dining environment. In sum, my visit to Materia Restaurant marked the worst gastronomic experience I've ever endured, and I wouldn't recommend it even to my worst enemy. Save yourself the trouble and steer clear of this establishment.

I’m Italian, I had dinner here with my flatmate last night. We choose Materia because they don’t only do pizza but also other Italian delicacies that you don’t find easily abroad like pizza fritta or polenta. Together with a few appetisers (polenta, pizza fritta and meatballs) we got one of their double crunch, Bologna. Their dough is incredibly light and crunchy probably thanks to long fermentation time. Meaning that you won’t feel heavy after one of those. It’s hard to find this type of pizza even in Italy. The staff is mostly Italian, in the kitchen too and the place is very welcoming, it makes you feel at home. We also loved the chianti they have.

Dissatisfactory Culinary Experience: Our visit to the "Matéria" restaurant left us deeply dissatisfied across various aspects. Beginning with the dining environment, the antiquated and excessively dark ambiance set the stage for a less-than-pleasant experience. Stained, hole-ridden floors and musty-smelling tables and chairs contributed to an uncomfortable atmosphere.

Subpar Hygienic Standards: Hygiene concerns were evident throughout our visit. While the restroom maintained a relative level of cleanliness, the amber-tinted lighting cast an unpleasant hue. The interior's elevated temperature added to the discomfort, creating a sauna-like sensation. The utilization of recycled paper napkins raised questions regarding adherence to food safety standards, potentially violating HACCP regulations.

Unfulfilling Culinary Offerings: Regrettably, the promised culinary delights failed to materialize. The much-anticipated pizza, advertised as a specialty, proved disappointingly thin and lacking in the promised flavors. Our departure from the restaurant was marked by lingering hunger and dissatisfaction, underscoring a significant gap between expectations and reality.

Staff Behavior and Discrimination Concerns: Compounding our concerns were observed instances of unacceptable conduct from the staff. Reports of racist and homophobic behavior by management created a palpably unwelcoming atmosphere, particularly for non-white and LGBT patrons.

In summary, our experience at "Matéria" was characterized by subpar conditions, unmet gastronomic expectations, and inappropriate staff behavior. This establishment does not come recommended based on our profoundly...
