This establishment is located on a major street, generally beyond walking distance of the attractions we wished to visit, and within 600 metres of the metro station.
The restaurant staff were friendly. The female front desk staff were friendly and the young lady from Belgium was extremely helpful in providing directions (even offered to accompany us part way) for an outside restaurant that we wished to dine at. However, none of the three 20ish female staff were able to locate a couriered package that had arrived two days before our arrival. Mitchel retrieved it from under the front counter when we asked. This oversight cost us one day of site seeing as the package contained a Wi-Fi connection which we would have used for Google Maps and public transportation. The manager refunded E30 for this issue.
Our room on the second floor was was above average in size for this couple and our four large pieces of luggage. The decor as near new and unique; exposed concrete or panels resembling concrete. The first impression was awe for the unique decor; however, usage revealed flaws. The hanging storage interfered with the ‘safe’ operation. The limited room lighting made the operation of the safe difficult. The handle for the sink basin control was missing. One of the handicap grab bars connection cover was displaced. One of the lighting switches was broken. There were numerous electrical outlets. The HVAC system made the room a comfortable temperature, if one 'fussed' with the controls. The shower and linens were great. Our street facing room allowed rail noise. The bed was comfortable and supportive. The amenities provided included: soap, glass cups, toilet paper, facial tissue, shoe shine kit and shampoo. The entire venue was clean.
The included breakfast was awesome. Yogurt, fruit, numerous pastries, cold cereal (5 or 6 kinds), sausages, awesome bacon, scrambled eggs, cold cuts, potatoes, orange juice, etc. The industrious staff attempted to keep it well stocked and fresh. Cold and hot beverages were provided by two machines. The coffee varied from great to poor. On half our visits we needed to wait for a table.
In summary, pretty much what one would expect from a 3 star hotel with a decent location, clean, and awesome breakfast. The venue needs some conventional thinking. The front desk staff could have a more diligent in locating a delivered package. The restaurant staff is overwhelmed at...
Read moreThe rooms at JAM Hotel Lisbon feature striking industrial-style architecture, with exposed floors and ceilings that reveal pipes and vents. While this look might not appeal to everyone, I personally enjoyed the unique design. The bedroom itself has a spacious bed, a desk with a chair, ample space for hanging clothes, plenty of outlets, a safe, and floor-to-ceiling windows that let in lots of light. A nice extra touch is the in-room speakers, allowing you to connect your device and play your own music. However, I found the bed to be quite uncomfortable, with firm pillows that made it difficult to sleep comfortably. The air conditioning was also inconsistent, switching on and off on its own. A TV would have been a welcome addition, though unfortunately, there isn’t one in the room.
The bathroom, on the other hand, is fantastic, equipped with a large rainfall shower, a spacious sink, plenty of mirrors, and a clean, well-kept toilet. It would have been nice to have a few more amenities, as only a shower cap and shower gel are provided, though this isn’t a huge issue. Towels are plentiful, and the shower gel and shampoo have a lovely fragrance.
We tried breakfast one morning, but unfortunately, it was disappointing. For €15 per person, the selection was limited, and the food was cold. We also ordered room service, which took over an hour to arrive and only came after we followed up three times. Based on this experience, I wouldn’t recommend dining here.
Overall, JAM Hotel Lisbon is a good choice if you’re looking for a stylish place to stay in a great location. However, if you’re hoping for a soft, comfortable bed and reliable in-house dining, you may want to consider...
Read moreA local friend arranged a night for us, but the incompetent staff made it so arduous to check-in, insisting that my friend needed to fill out an additional PDF form and passport scan, despite the booking already being pre-paid and nonrefundable. My friend was cautious about sharing her credit card details on an unsecured PDF, and they refused to confirm this with her over the phone, despite having all her contact details. They insisted it was my responsibility to arrange this with her, otherwise they would keep the payment and not let us check-in. I gave them my credit card that they did not want to accept, giving no reason. We wasted 3 hours dealing with three clueless staff and, in the end, their manager came and was equally as lost. My friend lost her booking and we ended up finding an alternative. Stay at your peril. Caution: They lied in their response. All my friend's details was on their system, but they refused to contact her. She was not impressed that they demanded her share to her card details on a unsecured PDF form that could easily be seen/scammed. They didn't permit her to allow her to simply confirm all these sensitive personal and credit card details over-the-phone, and continued to refused to contact her. This booking was paid in-advance, as a non-refundable booking, so all of this process makes no sense. I travel for work all the time, with someone else making the booking on my behalf, and this is the first I've experienced this lack of proper training. We found another better/cheaper hotel and I tested the same thing (with my girlfriend booking and me checking in) and it was seamless. Please train your...
