The place has a good location and the interior is nice. Unfortunately, this was the only positive part about the evening. We where 3 persons and had 4 starters and 3 main courses. Generally, the menu was not very big. Only little choice and nothing special. So we had the salmon caspacio, shrimps, picapau and some egg dish. All ok, not great but ok. Then we had entrecote, the burger and filet mignon. The meat was good. French fries where lame, even when they tried to resemble to belgian fries, they had nearly no taste. The burger had some foiegras included, not bad but quite fat. Every heartbeat felt intense... The patties where cold and dry. We had also a bottle of wine, one of the more expensive. It was good. However the service had no idea about wine or any recommendations. And this leads to the worst part of the restaurant - the service. You might be used to it in Portugal, but the service in this place was indeed one of the worst I ever had. It started right away with the receptionist girl, beautiful, bronzed but arrogant and distracted. I needed to repeat my name three times which has 7 letters and is italian... The first waiter was kind but new, so I can forgive that. But the manager who brought the wine was terrible. Rude and he stepped way to close to our faces while serving, he did not smell like freshly showered. Also the serving took a very long time, we spent three hours in this place and had to wait for the food at least 50 minutes. Finally we tried to order a coke and a coke zero. After 25 Minutes of waiting and three different waiters called, I called the receptionist Girl by phone and got her to get the order. She was not amused. We got two normal cokes instead of the zero..... 240 euro is not cheap for Portugal for 3 people. 100 euro was the wine. For this you could expect more. Quite a shame, I really liked...
Read moreTerrible Experience at "Kai's Restaurant
I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at "Kai's Restaurant," and I must say that it was nothing short of dreadful. From the moment I entered, the overall tone of the evening was marred by a series of disappointments that left a sour taste in my mouth.
First and foremost, the attitude of the staff was shockingly rude and disrespectful. Their flippant behavior made it clear that customer satisfaction was not a priority for them. Not only did they lack basic courtesy, but their indifference towards our concerns was particularly disheartening.
To compound the issue, our orders were consistently mishandled throughout the evening. It seemed as though the concept of accuracy was foreign to the kitchen staff. Our dishes arrived late, some were completely incorrect, and others were missing essential components. The whole experience felt chaotic and unorganized.
To make matters worse, the quality of the food was utterly abysmal. The meat, which should have been the highlight of the meal, was inedible. It was overcooked, tough, and had a strange, unpleasant taste. It was apparent that little care had been taken in the preparation and execution of the dishes, resulting in a complete letdown.
Overall, my visit to "Kai's Restaurant" was a terrible experience. The combination of flippant staff, consistently wrong orders, and inedible meat showcased a blatant disregard for quality and customer satisfaction. I would strongly advise others to avoid this establishment and seek out a dining experience that values its patrons and takes pride in delivering a...
Read moreI ended up at Kais Restaurante Bar one evening after a walk along the riverside in Santos. The space is undeniably impressive — a beautifully restored old tram warehouse with soaring ceilings, soft candlelight, and reflections of water dancing on the walls. It immediately feels like a place meant for a special evening. I came alone and ordered the monkfish risotto. The texture was smooth, the plating elegant, but the flavor? Honestly, pretty average. For the price, I expected something more refined.
I went back a few days later with friends — one vegetarian, the other a meat lover. We ordered fish tacos, foie gras, and a burger. Everything looked great and the service was attentive without being overbearing, but once again, the food didn’t quite deliver. The burger, while cooked properly, lacked depth. The fish tacos were dry, and the foie gras felt overly rich without much balance.
The vibe is romantic and the staff know what they’re doing. But when the bill comes to around €40–50 per person, you start to feel like you’re paying more for the setting than for what’s on the plate. Kais is ideal if you’re looking for a beautiful space to impress a guest or mark a special occasion. But if you’re there for the food itself, especially with Lisbon’s many excellent dining spots, it might leave you...
