Lx Center Chiado — Hotel in Lisbon

Definitely not impressed. We chose this hotel for its central location, which is highly walkable and close to public transport, but that is about where the positives end. The room was quite a bit more humble than in the photos online, which was not a dealbreaker, but overall it was not a comfortable place to stay. The room fluctuated between being too cold and too hot, and you can hear absolutely everything that happens both inside and outside the building (very glad we had earplugs). Shared bathroom could use more space to put one's belongings given that you can't store anything there, and it was difficult to dry towels. Reception was pretty much unavailable after checking in -- no one ever seemed to be there, even during the 4pm-11pm hours that it was supposed to be open, and they were unresponsive to our calls and messages until after we had checked out, which is not helpful at all. A worker who I believe is in charge of cleaning was sweet, but it was difficult to communicate with her as we do not speak Portuguese and she wasn't able to put us in touch with management. Location good. The beds were uncomfortable and the room was cold. There were not enough blankets and the pillows were sad. Reception is not available and they did not respond to my messages about being uncomfortable until after checkout when they told me that I didn’t bring my concerns to reception… but again, no one was there. I even called the hostel phone number four times. When I found someone in the kitchen, they gave me another blanket but it was difficult to express other concerns because of the language barrier. It is noisy - you can hear the street, which I expected, but also anyone closing doors or walking around. Bring earplugs. Also, the room did NOT look like the pictures. Just off the main square tucked down a side street this property is fantastically located; clubs and bars on one side and shopping on the other.||Hostel was extremely clean throughout with daily housekeeping which was a really nice touch. We had the triple room which was a really good size and we were impressed with the quality of the bedding used. Very clear that this property has undergone a recent update and in many respects was better than a number of local hotels.||WiFi is available in the rooms and worked really well which was a huge plus!||Only comment would be the street outside can get quite...
