we are a family that goes to a destination every month. This month it was Portugal. I stayed 3 days in Porto, rented a car and came to Lisbon for another 3 days, at your hotel where I had an extremely unpleasant experience the evening I arrived, that is 03.07; I had made a reservation for a superior room, I received a normal room on the corner; I entered the room and noticed that it was very cold and I went down to the reception and told them that the air conditioning in the room does not heat, but remains at 19 degrees; the lady at the reception (brunette and old) told us to go back to the room and wait for someone to come and look at the air conditioning; after 30 minutes (time during which I did not unpack the luggage) a gentleman came and said that it was broken and that he could not fix it. We went to the reception again and the lady sent us back to the room and said that another gentleman will come to look at the air conditioner, to wait, that he will fix it. After another 30 minutes someone came, said that he fixed it and to wait 15-20 minutes so that it will be warm in the room. After another 30 minutes, the hot air didn't work and I went to the same lady again, telling her to give us another room. He refused, saying that he didn't have any, that the hotel was full, as I always saw guests staying. I dropped off our luggage at the reception and told the lady that we want to go to another hotel and that she should send us the money back. Seeing that we were very upset, another lady from the reception intervened, who immediately found us a very good, warm room and we finally checked in at 9 in the evening, after 3 hours. I think that this lady has no business at the reception, it's a shame for your hotel. This lady knew that we came by car, we also paid for parking, but she didn't give us a card to enter and leave the parking lot, so every time we took it, there was a problem with the barrier. Tonight, a nice lady at the reception gave us a card for parking. Your hotel is beautiful, well located, but with such a reception you will lose many customers. We will post this review on booking and on the hotel website. We are the guests...
Read moreI wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else in Lisbon. The location is perfect in a nice quiet road but close enough to walk to all of the attractions. The area felt very safe compared to some other parts of Lisbon. The service we received at Porto bay was exceptional from all of the staff especially from Josè who made our hotel experience even better with his friendliness, good humour and professionalism. The food and drinks at Porto bay was very tasty and we always received quick friendly service from all of the staff.
Our room was perfect , we did not need to upgrade as we thought the standard room was more than enough, a good size and had everything we needed. Our bed was very comfortable (one of the comfiest hotel beds I have stayed in) The waterfall shower was amazing and very relaxing with good pressure. I loved how you can change the lights to different modes (welcome, soft, night etc…) The room also had good amenities such as nespresso machine, tea, milk, fridge, safe, hairdryer, spa robes and slippers.
The hotel has a spa which we used one evening which we thought was really beautiful and very calming/relaxing that’s if you have a chance to go there when there are no children dive bombing in the pool and running in and out of the sauna and steam rooms- I don’t think the spa is a place for children as it is a place to relax and enjoy.
The decor of the hotel is perfect, simplistic and attractive with a calm atmosphere.
I would like to thank all of the staff at Porto bay for such a wonderful stay.
If we come back to Lisbon this hotel would be the first hotel we...
Read moreGet beyond the grand facade, good location and warm welcome from reception staff, and the true nature of Portobay ( or as we re named it PortoPAY) Liberdade is revealed. Everything seems to be an £extra... want more water in your room, you have to pay, more coffee, (OK tea was free!) you have to pay, a bit of bread with your meal you had to pay ! given a voucher for a glass of wine with your meal you have to pay !
Breakfast was hit and miss, quality was overall good, but too many times we had to remind wait staff to bring tea / coffee out or cooked to order eggs ( and we were not alone). We ate once in the restaurant, and sent the bill back 3 times to be corrected. No apologies offered, no one even our after dinner coffee for free in any form of compensation. We ordered 2 coffees whilst we were waiting for our taxi, which never came. ..........and on the subject of the taxi, reception were quite keen that we pre ordered a taxi, when it came it was clearly not a standard licence taxi, but looked far more like a private hire car. The driver attempted to charge us 60 euro for the 20 min run to the airport, when challenged this "miraculously" became 16 euro, quote "because my English is not so good" ???
We are very experienced travellers and "know our way round" good bad and indifferent hotels, so we can confidently say overall a very distant from 5 star...
