Hotel Porto Rico — Hotel in Porto

The location is great, walking distance to touristic attractions, lots of restaurants around.||Considering the price, it was a fine stay. Very clean bedroom and bathroom. We stayed on the first floor (where the reception is) and it was not noisy or anything.||Our main problem was that the wifi would not work ever, in both our phones, so, after 2 nights, we asked the guy at the reception if there was a problem. The answer we got was "in my cellphone it works fine, theres nothing i can do. If there's a problem, it is a provider issue, we have nothing to do with it", in a bit too rude way, insted of trying to solve it. The day after, we asked another girl who was in his place, she said other guests also had problem with the wifi, but, again, "there was nothing they could do". Definitely not a language barrier issue, as we are native portuguese speakers.||Overall, the hotel was ok, considering its price, the amenities and location. One week before my check-in, I sent an email to the hotel requesting a very silent and calm room and i got no reply. The day I arrived to the hotel, I mentioned the email and request I sent , wondering if they got it because i really had to sleep since i got exams the next day. The lady said "yes of course your room will be very calm and silent". When I arrived to the room, i noticed it was one facing the main street and i thought "well maybe it will be quiet". I couldnt be more wrong. I was not able to sleep all night long even with earplugs. There was a lot of noise by cars, people talking loud, cars washing the street,etc. I felt terrible for spending money to be able to have a good night of sleep when i could have stayed at my friends house. Cuando llegamos, la recepcionista me dijo que tenía que pagar en efectivo, cuando le indiqué que no llevaba cash, me pidió que fuese al cajero: lo hice (tonta de mi). No me dieron ningún recibo, por supuesto. Salimos a cenar, y el señor que estaba en recepción se empeñó en que teníamos que dejarle la llave, cosa que no hicimos, y nos amenazó con miles de desgracias que pasarían si la perdíamos, cabreado como una mona. Al volver a la habitación, el aire acondicionado estaba estropeado y solamente echaba aire frío a toda mecha. Bajé a recepción y hablé con el señor, que me dijo que era yo que estaba usando mal el mando. Después de varios viajes al primer piso (estábamos en el segundo) conseguí que viniese a la habitación, pero aquello no tenía arreglo. El señor no sabía ni dónde desconectar el aire, para que por lo menos dejase de enfriar, y tuvo que llamar al “encargado”, un tal Carlos, que le dijo dónde hacerlo. Consiguió desconectarlo y se fue. No nos ofreció cambiarnos de habitación o un radiador para pasar la noche, ni una triste manta. Eran las 2 y pico de la mañana cuando acabamos de dar vueltas. No dormimos nada, congelados y cabreados. El coche estaba en el “garaje”. Lo movieron como les dio la gana, y me lo encontré en el medio y medio de la puerta del ascensor... todo el que pasaba por allí tenía que rozarse obligatoriamente con él 😠. Cuando nos fuimos, ni una disculpa. Durante toda la mañana siguiente estuve recibiendo mensajes de Booking diciéndome que no se podía hacer el cobro de mi tarjeta, y que procedían a cancelar la reserva. Como tengo asociada la Travel y no quería perder los puntos, llamé a Booking para decirles que había pagado en efectivo... y cuál fue mi sorpresa cuando me dicen que la reserva se había cancelado porque yo no había dormido allí!Ahí ya se me acabó de hinchar todo... le expliqué lo que había pasado al chico encantador que me atendió y dijo que hablaría con ellos para aclararlo todo. La segunda vez le dijeron que se había cancelado la reserva porque yo me había ido sin pagar la estancia!! Difícil, teniendo en cuenta que también se quedan con la llave del coche para moverlo a su antojo. Estoy indignada a tope, son unos sin vergüenzas que piden el efectivo y cancelan la reserva para no pagar a los operadores. Menos mal que en Booking me atendieron como unos profesionales e incluso me ofrecieron un descuento en mi próxima reserva, porque dan mi versión por válida (sólo hay que ver las opiniones...). No recomiendo a nadie que vaya, el sitio es viejo y el trato, el peor que he...
