Lagostim — Restaurant in Porto

Unfortunate HORRIBLE experience, honestly felt discriminated vibes ... after hand-picking this place amongst many other options, we tried our luck with a late (9:15pm) walk-in for two (so maybe 2nd/last service of the night per Porto standards) ... And after simply trying to say: "hi, walk-in for 2? ✌🏻", we got met with a barrage of "No"s ... like words won't describe the feeling of hearing what likely was over ten No in like a 4 second exchange ... Didn't even get to properly say that we were even ok for inside table or that we would try waiting for a table, and just kept getting an incessant amount of "No" and "Reserved" ... They had 2 tables completed unseated from what I could see, and a table that had just finished paying ... I truly hope they got those reservations filled, because we're good tippers too 🤷🏻‍♂️, and could had been happy to return another time if met with more sensible manners ... Guess maybe their staff was just not having a good night ... I had to say "okay, okay" for the barrage of "No" to stop and basically had to move away to feel safe ... Ended up at another place 2 blocks away, and had a great lovely experience instead....

A very nice place with a fine ambience. We got the grilled cod and grilled sardines, alongside a pitcher of red sangria and one cod fried ball. The food was delicious, the sangria very tasty and the whole experience exactly what we were looking for. The service was not exactly super quick in the beginning, but that was also because it was packed when we arrived, and we were hangry :D so I'm willing to cut them a lot of slack. The service was also very friendly, they got along with us and the guests very well and it is a very pretty place from the inside and outside. You can pay easily with a card, like in many other places in Porto . I can recommend this place if you're looking for some grilled fish, a nice ambience and relatively ok prices (with water, and all of the above, we came out at 41€, not...

Arrived, was hassled 3 times whether we were ready to order within minutes of sitting down, once before we had even been given the drinks menu!

When we ordered, we were given the wrong order, given cataplana not the rice we ordered.

As it had taken a long time to get our food despite about 1/3 of the restaurant full, we were too hungry to wait for a dish already mentioned on menu to take extra time. The cataplana was indeed delicious however.

The beer, was either a) end of the barrel or b) sat for far too long, as head didn't hold, and had a diminished flavour (couldn't really even taste beer) compared to all other Super Bock's drank over previous days. If you go, stick to wine.

The restaurant is located on a slope so be careful with saucy dishes, danger of dripping off...
