We stayed here for 2 nights during our trip to Portugal in December 2018. The hotel room is decent sized, even with a 3rd bed installed for the child, we had sufficient room to maneuver through the aisles around the beds. The A/C has a function for heating, which is an important feature if you are travelling in winter. Perhaps because we were there on the Christmas week, we did not suffer from much noise, although at times we could distinctively hear the emergency vehicles passing by on the street. While being rather dated on the interior, the hotel offers a good value for the budget travelers who want to stay close to the center with a plenty of dining and shopping options around, and overall our family enjoyed staying here. ||||My biggest disappointment was with the way our arrival was handled. The booking declared the check-in time as 13:30, and having showed up at 13:50, we regretfully learned that the room is not yet ready. In my opinion hospitality business is about managing your guests' expectations. Had I known that the room was not to be ready before 14:30, my travel schedule would have been different. In other words, I'd rather prefer to have a certain check-in at 15:00, rather than a declared earlier check-in with no guarantee, and I hope the other guests would support me in saying this. ||||Secondly, the room that was "ready" at 14:30 did not have blinds, and therefore had to be changed. The new room that was given as a replacement was again not prepared for the move-in, as the child's bed was not installed, so again the arrangements had to be made with further waiting. Besides, not expecting such a twist, all our luggage traveled along between the reception and the floors, while we kept changing keys and instructing the reception. ||||All said does not make this hotel a bad property, but it leaves a bad taste in mouth that leaves potential for a higher score. In my opinion, improving customer's experience is what the management should address if they are serious about the...
Read moreWent in a group of 10. Not a very friendly welcome, receptionist looked as if he didn't want to be there. Room was on the front of the hotel, was like Brands Hatch with traffic all night. We asked to change to a quieter room, which we did without problem. Breakfast continental - bread rolls, cheese, ham and fruit, tea and coffee. About 20-25 minutes walk into town, not really suitable for people with walking difficulties but there's a bus stop nearby. Day reception is very helpful and gave us a map which he marked with all the places of interest. Loved Porto, very interesting. Lovely beach, very clean. Had a sail down the Duoro, weather not too good but thoroughly enjoyable with great scenery. €55 for a full day including continental breakfast, lunch with choice of main course and a choice of red or white wine and soft drinks. There is a cake shop next to hotel which serve meals, we used this quite a lot. There are also shops and restaurants nearby. A good holiday,...
Read moreOverall experience is ok. Not perfect, not awful.
The breakfast is overpriced, with lots of nice places around I’d suggest to avoid it.
Rooms are clean and comfortable even if the furniture is outdated.
The description on booking says that rooms are isolated, that’s far from being true. We heard both neighbors and road movements.
We also were charged twice for the stay. Concierge first tried to convince us that they only make an attempt of transaction and unblock funds in 2-3 working days (even if so, might be extremely inconvenient for travelers), than that we were charged by booking, not by hotel, but bank statement says it all.
Hotel is located near Mercado de Bom Sucesso that offers nice gastronomic experience. Worth visiting Casa da Música that...
