We had such a great stay at the HF Fénix Porto! From the moment I arrived everything was spotless – the whole place is super clean and tidy. I stayed up on the 12th floor, which had the coolest black-and-white décor and modern furniture – it felt really fresh and stylish. Housekeeping were absolutely on point every day, everything looked perfect.

Breakfast deserves a big shout-out – the selection was amazing, with something for everyone, and all of it delicious. The staff there were brilliant too, always cheerful and helpful. Sonia (I’m pretty sure that was her name) (small lady grey hair) really stood out – she made us feel so welcome.

Reception staff were also great with a smooth check in and out and always at hand.

The location couldn’t be better. You’ve got a shopping centre and a huge food court right next door, loads of restaurants in the area, and the town centre a walk away. There are taxis waiting outside the hotel all the time so super convenient! When going to the river ! Cost me 8 euros

If I had to be picky, I’d just suggest adding a hook in the bathroom for the cosy dressing gown, and maybe a rotating holder for the handheld shower so it doesn’t spray the floor. Honestly though, those are tiny details compared to everything else.

Overall, HF Fénix Porto is a brilliant place to stay – stylish, comfortable, great food, and wonderful people. I’d definitely recommend it and would love...

This was part of a package deal so relatively inexpensive - our expectations were restrained. The hotel is spotlessly clean, including bathrooms, with large, spacious, well furnished bedrooms, the most enormous bed and plenty of space to hang up your clothes. Coffee is standard and includes a 1 litre bottle of still water every day. We had breakfast included - the buffet is large, generous, good quality and does a fantastic job of offering local fare alongside a reasonable standard European menu. The pastries are excellent, bite size and fresh, the pancake machine is a delight, the hot breakfast is good and regularly replenished and the drinks available are standard. The Cava is a nice touch! Clearing is swift and efficient as is replenishing, and staff are friendly and helpful. Drinks in the bar are generous and reasonably priced, and the nachos we ordered as a snack was really good and substantial, although mercifully not the American style (no melted cheese!). The hotel is a good walk from the centre of town and Ubers are so cheap that they are a very manageable option. There is a shopping centre around the corner and of course a lovely market close by too, so if you wan to stay put, there is plenty to do. We loved our stay here, and would definitely recommend it if the location suits you. Porto appears to have a great number of good hotels, so you are spoilt for...

Although we are still in dispute with loveholidays regarding dreadful flight delay and change, resulting in us flying to Lisbon, then 2 hour wait for coach, and 4 hour COACH journey to Porto, arriving at the hotel 9 hours later than expected- the hotel was lovely. The breakfast was very good, something for everyone and the staff worked tirelessly cleaning and refilling everything, when supplies were depleted. Reception staff were SO helpful with information and Gabriella and Willeum (?) gave great directions and tips on getting around. The room was spacious, well equipped and very clean. . The beds were comfortable. Good sized bathroom, efficient shower with lovely toiletries. Location was perfect for us - as we enjoy walking- 20 mins to Porto and the Bon Successo food market across the road was superb! The choice of food there was excellent, prices really cheap and people were SO friendly and welcoming. We absolutely loved the vibe there, live music some evenings. The little bar did fantastic Prosecco type drinks - try the mango - absolutely delicious. The staff again really friendly. Would definitely recommend this hotel, and if we return to Porto would stay there again. Hop on/ off bus good for finding your way around. Loved the Douro wine tour, great value for money. Porto is well...

We had to stop by Porto in order to go to a business meeting in Vigo. This was the most convenient way for us to get there. If it was not for this business meeting, we never thought about visiting Porto thinking that it was some small city in Portugal. Much to our surprise, Porto is a very charming city with lots of history. We stayed only one night here at HF Fénix Porto and we really liked the hotel. It meets the 4 star expectation in every way. Not speaking one word of Portuguese, we initially worried to not being able to communicate. Thankfully, many people speak perfect English at the hotel and all over the city. This is a great comfort and relief when traveling overseas. Here in Porto, they make an effort to communicate with you without making you feel like an outsider. Would definitely come back to this hotel again with the entire family.

I very rarely write poor reviews but I honestly can’t believe this hotel has a 4 star rating and good feedback. These photos are of the room without lights at 10am on a bright summer day - as dark as a tomb, a view of a concrete wall and the strangest unpleasant smell. The location is in the business district so convenient for work trips but not sightseeing. The restaurant in the basement is equally dark with the same smell and the front desk staff do not even greet guests. The room was too depressing to work in and I was told I would have to pay 7€ per hour to sit in the lobby. With hotels like Ponte Ferro offering a stunning 4 star experience and incredible views for a similar rate, the Fénix Porto really needs to up its game.
