OK for a one or maybe two night stay if you want to stay in an excellent location and save some money. ||||While it’s decent enough there are some flaws. Mostly that the room is small, but I didn’t find it as small as some of the other reviews. I was traveling alone and had the twin room so I was able to use the other bed to put my stuff. I don’t know how two people would get by with 2 big suitcases in this room though. The bathroom on the other hand is a decent size with a big shower, but the sink is tiny. Your hands hit the bottom when you wash them. ||||The soundproofing isn’t that great. I stayed in another hotel prior to my stay here that was literally next door. The bedrooms shared a wall even. The other room was much more quite, and I stayed there over the weekend and here on a Tuesday night. The good news is the noise quiets down around midnight and doesn’t get loud again until midday. I was in a room that didn’t face the river, I think the river view rooms should be more quite since they don’t have restaurants directly below. ||||There was also an awful sewage smell when you enter the building. Fortunately I didn’t smell this smell in my room, only in the entrance to the hotel. ||||The bed isn’t the most comfortable, but it’s also not the worst. If you like a really firm bed you may like it. ||||The main draw to this hotel is the wonderful location! There are great restaurants nearby and the Ribeira is the most lively part of the city. You can walk everywhere from here, even across the river. ||||If you’re on a budget and want to stay in the best part of town and don’t have a lot of luggage this may be a place...
Read moreThis lovely and functional guest house is tucked in an alley near the riverfront, and served as a great base for a couple of nights in Porto. We had a room that overlooked the alley which was fun and made us feel like locals. The alley was somewhat busy as there are a couple of restaurants, but it was not overly noisy as we were on the top floor. Alexandra was informative and helpful, and provided a map with suggestions for dining which turned out to be quite helpful and had great suggestions. She also helped us locate a great little shop to grab some bottles of wine. The breakfast was presented well on a little tray and Alexandra was on hand to provide hot coffee and tea. The location was great for our needs and felt safe, however it would be tough for someone who has mobility issues since there is no elevator and to head to most sites there is a short uphill walk. However, the uphill walk also was due to the fact it is located right by the river (also a plus for easy access to restaurants or a walk). We booked through a third-party site and there were a couple of unexpected fees including an "extra guest" fee (there were two of us) so a little unclear if this was because of that. Overall, would definitely recommend this place to a solo traveler or couple who doesn't mind walking, wants proximity to the river, and wants a host that they can get suggestions from for local places. Would probably...
Read moreWe left this guesthouse yesterday morning and I couldn't have been happier! The only positive aspect is the location, which is basically in the heart of the tourist area (if you like that). The room was super small with literally no place for a nightstand and a closet. We had to keep our stuff in the luggage which were in the way making the room even smaller. The bed was horrible! Cheap and old....I felt every spring inside of it (and didn't sleep for all our stay).|The bathroom is minimal but ok. |The whole place stinks like sewer, it must come from the basement...|The breakfast is served in a small room with the least enthusiasm ever .They offer American coffee, milk and juices ( directly from their boxes). Every morning there's fresh bread and some fruit, some cheese and lunch meats. The girl asks you how you want your eggs and cooks them for you. They also have cereals, yogurt and a small cake.||We paid 100€ a night and that was definitely too much for this place. They even asked us €15 extra for a "late check-in" at 10pm. I would definitely recommend you...
