We had a delicious meal here on a Sunday night. The food and the outdoor view were excellent, the service not so much. We had cocktails, the Salada Mista, Ostras Natura, and grilled flounder with green beans and potatoes. Everything started nicely with a table with a great view and a personable server. Our appetizer and cocktails came quickly. But then things started to go off the rails. First I was berated for not eating my appetizer quickly enough, and then our main quickly came, while we were half way through our starters with no room on the table for more dishes. While deboning our fish our server told us we would not be getting the potatoes that came with the meal and no substitute was offered. We asked why and were given the answer that they were bad, bad for us. Ok, maybe we are having a language problem here? After further questioning we were told it was because I said I was allergic to garlic, which I am not and never said I was. After some more back and forth with our server, we found that we had not been served the meal we had ordered (Grilled Brill for two), but that instead we had been given the meal for another table (Grilled Flounder for one), and they were the ones that were allergic to garlic. Later our server brought our potatoes and as the main came with an enormous amount of (delicious) sautéed green beans, we decided not to order a replacement main. When we were presented with the bill we saw it included both the main we ate but did not order, and the main we ordered by did not receive (fish for 2). After that was corrected and another bill was brought to us, I asked what a particular line item was and was told in a very loud parental tone … don’t you know what you ordered! I told him, no I don’t bc we got someone else’s order. My husband brushed it off as a bad attempt at humor, but it didn’t seem that way to me after all we had been through. In summary … great food, beautiful view,...
Read morePerfect setting, but extremely slow and incredibly rude waiter with glasses. We arrived and there was no clear area of where to wait to be served and was rudely told by a waiter (who would be main problem throughout) "can we move as we were distracting customers" not even a hello. We got a table earlier than our waiting time and was then served by a lady who quickly got us our jug of lemonade and starters. Nearly 75 minutes later we had no sign of our mains. We asked one waiter to find out where our food was and he never returned. We then asked the waiter with glasses as he had since come out to do magic tricks for kids and talk to anyone French, we told him we had waited a while for our food and was rudely told this isn't McDonald's it's fresh and takes time. Someone needs to stick this arrogant idiot in a kitchen because lobster salad and prawn linguine does not take over an hour to cook. Eventually the salad came out and we couldn't understand why it took an hour to prepare, we then asked him about our linguine and he asked us, "oh you ordered linguine as well?" In other words we have messed up your order. When he came to take the empty plate of lobster salad, he asked us how was it and my girlfriend simply said "it was a bit slow for what it was" to which he responded with " don't cry darling this is Portugal, this is how it is".
As someone that has worked in bars and restaurants for 8 years as a bartender and waiter, avoid this place at all costs. It has an amazing view, but it's so poorly organised it's beyond silly. As for the staff, this cretin of a waiter is the rudest staff member I've come across in my life, this maybe Portugal but manners are universal and clearly someone doesn't have them and needs to teach him that seafood doesn't take an hour and...
Read moreAfter arriving late from Lisbon to Porto, I found this restaurant and decided to visit after reading reviews on Google. I visited with my child and ordered grilled octopus, seafood rice, grilled shrimp, and sangria. Overall, it was a bit salty for our family's taste, perhaps because it was meant for seafood. However, it wasn't bad when paired with the accompanying garnish.
The sangria was 15 euros for 500ml. It felt quite expensive, but I ordered it just to try it. Is this typical Portuguese sangria? (See photo) It was unbelievable... It was expensive, but it was worth experiencing at least once. While taste buds vary, everyone in my family agreed it was salty. Again, it's best enjoyed with garnish.
Not recommended for those sensitive to salt. I also tried the seafood rice for the first time, and while it wasn't quite what I'd seen before, it was a decent experience. (If I were to visit again, I wouldn't order it.) Also, we had a table on the first floor and on the terrace. Since there were no seats on the upper level, we gave up on the view and went to the second floor. While we didn't experience any special service, we had a hard time paying.
They were demanding a tip. We didn't add any, but... if we had experienced exceptional service and a unique taste, it wouldn't have been a waste. It's important to serve something from the heart, but... It was frustrating when we had to pay.
They persistently asked for a tip for two or three minutes, but we never added one. We won't be back again when we visit Porto. I hope my review...
