Amphitryon — Hotel in Bucharest

The hotel is a small family hotel, 3 floors. We ordered a Queen bad room and got a very spacious room, with Jacuzzi, King bad, and a really nice living room. The room is clean, beautiful and convenient. The owner is a very nice person that was accommodating our request. The hotel is by a main street and nice commercial with lots of restaurants. 25-30 minutes walking from the old town - there is also a tram that gets till the old town. We stayed here for 5 days. This is a pretty basic hotel. That said, it is clean and comfortable. The air conditioning was excellent in very hot weather. The staff was absolutely great - so friendly and welcoming. The breakfasts were good - cheese, cold cuts, bread, fruit, sweet rolls, cereal, and hard boiled eggs. They cheerfully provided two large cups of coffee each day (after seeing our sad faces at the first little cup). I would truely look forward to staying...

I give it a 2 but would put an asterisk if I could. The rooms were fine and the staff was friendly but we pretty much had no power for the two days that we were there. We were told it was something about construction on the street, but it seemed like it was the only place without power. I had no hot water in my room, although my fellow traveler did in their room.
