My train from the airport was delayed so I missed my connecting train and needed a hotel. This was close and cheap so I went there. The person at the reception (he did not seem like a receptionist) was disappointed that I didn't have cash to pay. I tried with my credit card, the transaction went through, but the card reader only printed a blank receipt, so I was told that I should pay cash. I told him that the transaction went through and I entered my pin and everything, he said he can't do anything. He couldn't check their system...so I went and withdrew some money, called my bank and confirmed that the sum was reserved, and I will be charged in the coming days. When I told this to the guy at the reception, he insisted that this never happened to him and he called the bank and he still couldn't explain what happened. So he told me to wait for his colleague the next morning, she was more capable of dealing with this technical stuff, and that I shouldn't be worried because they will send the money back, should I be charged twice. I paid with cash, I had to ask for a receipt myself because he didn't give me one.... The room smelled of cigarette smoke, the restroom was not cleaned well, and was in a poor state, but I was tired, I had another train the next morning so I went to bed.
The next morning there was only a cleaning person at the reception. The receptionist, she said, was delayed due traffic and will first be there in an hour. I couldn't wait for that, because I had to catch my train. She said that she will forward my message to the receptionist who will look into it and make sure that everything was alright.
After the weekend I was charged with the sum. Calling the hotel wasn't a good experience either. They wanted me to call the day after because the service lead needed to be there. I've sent my account info and called the next day only to be told that they can only send to an account in RON currency... So I had to ask a friend for his account information, send that to get my money back. They have never apologised once. An absolute disgrace of a customer service.
So all in all a bad experience. Do not book this hotel, find...
Read moreI visited București and needed to stay overnight...and i found this cheap hotel 600m from Gara de Nord railway station..the location is not very good, there are planty of gypsis around the hotel that like listening to loud music in the middle of the street and it can get very noicy. |I arrived at the hotel, i checked in (i didn't have reservation so it took like more then 5 minutes, but is ok) , they gave us the key for the room and a tv remote. They have an elevator plus stairs and there are not many rooms on each level so nobody can get lost in the hotel not finding their room.|The rooms are small...i guess it depends if you get a room for 1 or for 2 people. It was clean, but there was a very persistent smell of cigars. Probably everyone that comes there likes to smoke in their room. |Tv and fridge in the room. Only 2 electrical outlets in the whole room, one of which was not stucked to the wall so you need to be very carefull if you have cildren, and the 2nd one is in a bad spot.|Bathroom is very small and there are cockroches living around there. Shower didn't have any cover so when you take a shower you will splash water everywhere around.|The soap they offer you is very good quality :)||It probably should not be a surprise that they do not offer room service. But they do offer posibility for car rental, transport to the airport if you need. |Price is 100 lei/20€ per night for a double room. Very affordable.|They could do an effort to clean their hotel off of the cocroaches becouse it is desgusting and there is the danger that you can carry one or few of those with you in the baggage to...
Read moreThe hotel is pleasant, clean and basic as you would expect for the price. The staff speak English but don't understand it too well as I had to repeat myself a few times each time I asked for something. We were there for 5 days and the room wasn't cleaned once. I requested clean towels and toilet roll expecting the room to have been cleaned when we returned but all we got was the toilet roll - no towels, no beds made, nothing.||Although the hotel itself is Ok, the street it's located on looks like a warzone. Each time we stepped outside of the hotel there were gangs of (dare I say it?) gypsies and alcoholics. There were derelict buildings on that street in which there were families of gypsies living, it was heart breaking to see. In all fairness they never approached us or bothered us but it's not a good advertisement for the hotel.||The hotel rooms allow lots of noise from the street; groups of taxi drivers gather outside the shop across the road in the early hours of the morning to have loud conversations.||The hotel is well situated just a few minutes walk from the main railway station where there are many restaurants, bars and shops. There is also a daily market right around the corner from the hotel which has excellent street food and outdoor bars.||The old town is the place to be for nightlife as it is streets and streets of restaurants, bars, clubs etc. It is a good 35 minutes walk to the old town and there are plenty of trams and buses to the district but a taxi only costs £1 so it's hardly worth using...
