I walked on Calea Victoriei many times, and every time I saw Palatul Cantacuzino it left me stunned by its beauty, but I only visited it for the first time yesterday. It felt really magical visiting this museum, due to its marvelous interior. Compositions of George Enescu played on the background while the dim light added a very authentic view of the Palace on its glorious times. Another advantage was that I was the only visitor of the museum, and none of the staff supervised me. Also, in one of the rooms I had the surprise to discover some Samsung googles that helped you to visit (digitally, of course) all the George Enescu museums ( the one in Bucharest, Sinaia, his birth house and one that I don't remember) . I was dissapointed that when I was visiting, the staff was yelling at each other and having a dispute over free days, thing that ruined the magical...

One of the most exquisite French Baroque/Art Nouveau styled Mansions you will ever see in any country, especially Romania. It's a national treasure both for cultural and architectural reasons. Still furnished with many of the original stained glass, statues, paintings and more despite time and weather wearing being all too visible on the ceilings and some of the walls. It adds something to the place though. There is a concert room kept off limits to the public unless there is a performance scheduled. Amazing acoustics for classical and opera recitals. There is also a 5 RON tour available for the right wing of the house where artifacts from the life and experiences of George Enescu can be seen. It's small and short, no guided tour offered. It won't take more than 30-60 mins to complete. The grounds are not expansive but also worth a short tour with permission...

It is a NATIONAL MUSEUM . it was built at the beginning of the 20 th century by Grigore Cantacuzino , known by the nickname of Nababul ( The richest person ) ( once the Mayor of Bucharest ). After the Nabab s death , the Palace was inherited by Maria ( who becoming a widow , would marry George Enescu ,the famous composer. It is A Memorial House dedicated to George Enescu . The Palace is part of the European Patrimony . Hoping it will be soon renovated and it will occupy an important part and place in the history of the Romanians and of the world . A Festival George Enescu Festival is organised in Bucharest every year attracting visitors from all parts of the world . An exceptional location , the museum is invested with historical and cultural , toristic value...

As with most museums in Bucharest no particular effort is made to tell the visitor a story. One is left with no understanding of what Mr. George Enescu meant for Romania. All we get to see are some random paraphernalia. Only 2-3 rooms on the groundfloor can be visited, while the rest of the immense building is supposedly office space for the museum employees. The building is beautiful at the surface, but upon closer inspection it is clearly crumbling both on the inside and out. The garden behind the museum is spacious but neglected. Like so much of Romania's fascinating heritage. A pity!

An amazing palace in Bucharest that still stands. It needs some renovation but it is nice to take a look around or visit it on the inside. You can only see three rooms inside the palace and Gerge Enescu memorial house is under renovations now, but ususaly open for visitors. There is also a lovely concert ball room that can be visited during concers or the white museum night. The ticket for an adult is 5 lei(around 1€). I suggest to go inside and take a walk around the very beautiful french style building.
