Great location. Nice room. But don’t stay here if you have a car, don’t speak Romanian, and you like to sleep in — here’s why: Local parking is a reasonable 10 lei a day. We parked right in front of apartment door. That’s good. What is really bad is that the city parking app is only in Romanian, and parking is from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily. The parking payment machines do not have a multi day option as far as I can tell. So, to remain legal, which is recommended when you are a foreigner, there is no choice but to wake up at 7:55 AM and then pay for some more hours and put a new ticket on your car. Confirming my point, indeed there were 3 people in line at 8:00 AM waiting to use the parking payment machine, like me, they were laughing at the ridiculous system. And no one at the hotel to help you find another way. Worst if all, this establishment lies to you before you make non refundable payment for their place, and says there is free parking (se photo) which they later confirmed by text is not true. In fact, they tried to act like the pay parking was new to Sibiu (“sorry now you have to pay for parking”, now meaning for several years) I looked into that and confirmed it is not new. So they lie on their booking.com page (see photo) and are devious in their texts. Lastly, they give you 1.1 tiny little rolls of toilet paper. So good forbid if you run out because there is no one here to help. I guess you use the hand towels if you run out of toilet paper? I believe the caretaker was here BUT she went out of her way to not identify herself to us. So, this would be a great place but for their blatant dishonesty. We found most places are super honest and helpful here so I would find...
Read moreI was shocked at how horribly-reviewed most Sibiu hotels were, so I opted for this family-run bed and breakfast. The best elements of staying here are the access to Sibiu old town and having more space than a standard hotel room and all for only around 80USD/night. ||||Location - Just up the road is the iron bridge and the expansive old town. Close enough to go back and forth as much as I liked, but right outside the inn? Peace and quiet. ||||Room (Magnolia) - Modern, but bright and cheery which was a nice contrast to cookie-cutter hotel rooms I stay in otherwise. Magnolia is on the 1st floor and faces the street so while the view is great, not much privacy. I liked that there was more space in this than a hotel room so I have a small table and chairs and sofa and even a kitchenette with espresso machine, sink, cutlery, glassware, etc. and those make it feel a little more like a living space. I had no issues with the Wi-Fi connection throughout my stay. ||*Really no complaints but I am not a fan of the small, bulky comforters and open shower style, but I also figure most of visitors are European and prefer these. ||||The owners are very nice and were there in the morning (otherwise you enter the building with a key). I appreciated that they served a breakfast which was beyond what I expect in a bed and breakfast like this. Local products like jams and cheeses and fruits are available, and they will even prepare eggs, so I was more than happy. ||||A couple of suggestions: ||- I would have liked e-mail guidance about what to do upon arrival (as no one is there most of the day) and the timing of breakfast ahead of time, just to plan.||- A closet or dresser in the room...
Read moreWe stayed here for 5 nights in the "Rose" apartment. It is a studio with a small kitchenette, a desk, table and a sofa. It worked great for us as we needed to work from there for a couple of days. The internet worked well and we had no issues.
The room was clean and has a great view from the window. We couldn't figure out how to adjust the A/C, but it wasn't a big issue as we visited in March. There is no one at reception most of the time, but the staff we did meet during our stay was lovely.
This place is also great if you need late check in. Because of a late flight we arrived at the hotel at 2am. We contacted them beforehand and they messaged us the code to get in hours before we arrived.
Overall we had a nice quiet stay, we really enjoyed being 2 minutes walk from the old town with most things within...
