Ouă și Unt — Restaurant in Sibiu

For a long time, I’ve been wanting to try Ouă și Unt, and this hidden gem exceeded my expectations with both the quality of service and the food. The menu isn’t large, but every dish sounds delicious. There are lighter options as well as more filling ones, including vegan choices.

Today, I tried the Salmon Toast, and let me tell youI was impressed! The poached eggs were cooked perfectly, with a super creamy yolk, and the hollandaise sauce was light rather than heavy. The bread was fresh and delicious, and the amount of smoked salmon was just right.

For dessert, I had the pancakes with lemon curd and fresh berries, and I have to say, I’ve tried pancakes at many restaurants, but I’ve never been more pleased. The fluffy pancakes were coated in a delightful lemon curd that was both sweet and perfectly tangy. The sweetness of the sauce was balanced beautifully by the fresh berries, and the almond flakes added the perfect crunch to complete the dish.

I found this place in Google maps that has very few reviews, as I was researching where to have my brunch.

It’s a little bit further from the main squares, but is located on a very quiet street. The ambience, music, and the decorations are absolutely very nice!

The food is excellent! I have to point out that they serve American Style breakfast Hash potatoes! This is almost impossible to find in Eastern Europe! My Salmon Benedict was served over a hash brown instead of bread! That’s really unusual, but very delicious. Also, the addition of Spinach is a plus. However, the coffee wasn’t good! I mentioned this to the owner, and he said that probably he didn’t install the machine correctly! Anyhow, he wanted to take it off my bill, but I said it’s ok. A gesture that I really appreciate!

The service is not very fast, as I noticed that there is only one waiter (the owner himself) serving everyone. God Bless him!

Nevertheless, I still would highly recommend this...

If you’re hankering after a trad breakfast, you’re in safe hands at the relaxing and super friendly Oua si Unt Brunch Bistro 💚 It's absolutely the best place to start your day while you are in Sibiu!

Go for one of its legendary Daisy's (I had the one with avocado first day and with asparagus the next one, both were mouthwatering), stay for its homemade polenta cake with mascarpone and fresh strawberries and don't forget about coffee! You won't regret it! It's an amazing blend that tastes like a forbidden apple from paradise (delicious yet fully authorised ;)

On top of that, the service is unmatched. The owner truly cares about your experience and makes you feel like home. Super friendly and attendant 🍀
