We had an amazing stay at Goldsmith. Everything is perfect about this house: location, comfort, cleanliness, atmosphere. We had the family apartment on the ground floor, and it was large, well decorated and very comfortable for the three of us. I loved the polished dark wood floors! There was even a small kitchen, which we didn't get to use.||||The automatic coffee machine and a cake tray were right outside our door, which was great in the mornings. ||||Even though there are other rooms on the first floor we never heard anyone, the soundproof was excellent (probably being an old house the walls are very thick).||||The location is within the medieval city center, 2 minutes from the small square, but it's on a small quiet street away from the main tourist drag of Balcescu street. We could identify the street on an old Sibiu map from 1650! The small streets paved with cobblestone and the colored houses reminded us of Venice, it is beautiful! ||||The two ladies managing the property (owners?) were very nice and welcoming, as was the lady who was always at the house starting early morning. She was always very helpful and friendly.||||I see no reason to stay in an impersonal hotel room, staying at Goldsmith was much, much better. We really felt we're in a medieval town with a unique atmosphere. We had to cut our stay short due to an illness in the family, but are looking forward to...
Read moreGoldsmith is located in Sibiu's oldest street so it's an authentic experience before you even go inside. The common area is warm and welcoming, with tea, coffee and schnapps to reinvigorate. Our ground floor apartment had a little kitchen looking out to the courtyard, a modern bathroom and huge bedroom with creaky old wooden floor and tall windows. Everything was spotlessly clean. There was a lovely wing chair with floor lamp for reading and a dressing table and mirror to keep things handy. Big closet, comfy couch. The bed is firm and comfortable with decent quality linen. From Goldsmith you can walk easily to Piata Mica for dinner at any one of several good restaurants. The train station is a level walk of about 700m, very easy even with rolling bags. Or a taxi will cost 5 lei. Alexandra is so helpful...
Read moreGoldsmith is only a couple of hundred metres from the beautiful and bustling interlinking squares in the centre of Sibiu. But when we were relaxing on the lovely first-floor balcony with our pre-dinner drinks in hand, we could have been miles (and centuries) away from the city's main tourist attractions. Our room (as pictured) was not only comfortable, but had a fabulous polished wood floor and an amazing view of the local roofscape, including the signature 'eyes'. We loved the buffet breakfast, which we ate in the main courtyard. We appreciated all the help from the owners too, who facilitated our (very) late arrival and helped fix us up with taxis to the ASTRA open-air museum. Definitely a special place to stay in an...
