The food is not bad, but if you're a vegetarian you're pretty discriminated against - they refuse to give you a side dish and salad with your main (they have 2 vegetarian main dishes), as they do for the carnivore options, so you end up paying 18 lei for a 250 g stew while the carnivores pay the same price for a 450-500 g plate of food containing main, side and salad. I mean, either make the vegetarian dishes bigger or think of vegetarian dishes that go with mashed potatoes and salad, the way it is now you just end up feeling robbed and mistreated.
Edit: Thank you for the reply. It was indeed the lunch menu, the only one we received, but I don't see why that matters. The end result was the same - someone at the table paid 18 lei for main (some meat and sauce)+side dish+small salad (the meat dish was 250 g, I don't remember the weight of the side and salad, 450 was an approximation), while others only received a main (250 g), with no possibility of adding a side or salad (or even bread, it really needed something, it's like a sauce). The option to pay extra for the side was not offered to us, although I would consider that unfair, seeing that the carnivores get it in the same price. I wouldn't have had a problem with the price or quantity of the food if I didn't see the difference between the carnivore and vegetarian options. As for the price of the ingredients, somehow I doubt some pasta with tomato sauce or a celery stew cost more than meat. I think it's just about paying more for the luxury of being a vegetarian. Again, the food was ok, but a little more attention to all your clients, regardless of their diets,...
Read moreThe food is disgusting! This place cannot be called a restaurant. I ordered the grilled Dorado fillet. The fish was from frozen (and although you can buy fresh dorado in any supermarket), it was cooked horribly! The fillets were dry, flavorless and more like rubber than a diet fish fillet. Somehow the fillets were tiny, I've never even seen such a small dorado on sale. The potatoes that were served as a side dish were not even salted. If a restaurant can't make potatoes taste good, shame on that chef! The fish was also served with vegetables, also from frozen, also absolutely tasteless. Frozen vegetables at the end of summer, are you serious? The fresh vegetable salad is a salad of carrots (about 60% of them), with a small amount of lettuce leaves, three cucumber slices and the same amount of sweet peppers. As an extra, they offer toast with garlic butter. We all know how delicious it can be to dip a slice of fresh, lightly toasted bread in sauce or butter. But the chef clearly didn't want the food to taste good, so the toast was more like breadcrumbs. The bread had clearly had time to dry out before it was toasted, and it wasn't the crunch of the crust on the toast, but the crunch of withered bread that had been fried to hide the fact that it was old. When we returned the fish to the kitchen because it was disgusting, the waiter came back with the message that the fish was cooked according to the recipe, it was fine, and we're sorry you didn't like it. So it wasn't an accident or mistake, it's just their level. I recommend avoiding this place, especially if you've tried the food...
Read more04-Oct-2022 I am an admirer of Portuguese gastronomy and, whenever I arrive in Sibiu, I also eat at Old Lisbon. The menu is varied, well-thought and balanced, seasoned with good quality wines from wineries with a good reputation. I admit, I would like to see that they also introduce beef on the stone, but Romanian beef...
Recently, I ordered vegan food: Celery with olives, accompanied by a mixed salad and a craft beer. Everything delicious and inspirational, ask for the chef's recipe and the brewer's address :))
I would also draw attention to 3 other positive aspects of this restaurant: 1) the courteous attitude of the staff, a nicely balanced mix between personal generosity and professional courtesy - 5* 2) pleasant and peaceful atmosphere, wood-burning fireplace and candles, white and tight tablecloths, low music volume, discreet and quite fast service when the restaurant is full, maintaining the standards of the dishes (always the same quality, fortunately, which means slow staff turnover - 5 points for staff motivation policies) 3) Cleaning. Everywhere. Always. 5*
