Smallish hotel in the heart of St. Petersburg. Close to the corner of Moyka river and Nevskiy Prospekt. Three minute walk to closest subway station. Literally next to the Palace square, the Hermitage and other main attractions of St. Petersburg. ||||Hotel is in back of a courtyard. One needs to ring a bell at the main door in order to be let in the first time. Interior of the hotel is rather classic with russian ornaments. There is no lift in the hotel. ||||Ms. Yana Kokashueva at the front desk is absolutely gorgeous. Not only she's stunningly beautiful but she's also fluent in english and keen to help at any time. ||||Breakfast is served next to reception each morning. Food is quite simple and a bit limited but definately OK. ||||Our room was at upper floor and away from noises of streets but, on the other hand, the walls seem to be thin as we could hear occasionally loud noises from neighboring rooms. Room was also quite small, especially the bathroom. ||||Pricing was middle-range, accomodation honestly lower end but overall this hotel ranks to upper middle class (particularly because of location and service). We liked our stay at this hotel a lot and could easily visit them again...

Overall, the rooms are quite good and enjoyable. ||Now for the downside. There are no elevators in the building. If you have any mobility related injuries and you are on the high floors, that can be an issue. Also, only one or two of the reception staff speak relatively good English so unless you speak Russian, you will have a hard time speaking with the reception staff if you are a native English speaker. However, all reception staff are super helpful and very nice and in a worse case scenario, Google Translate comes in handy. ||As for the surrounding area, it is filled with amazing historical architecture, modern restaurants and many colorful stores that catch eye. Also, the area is well connected to the rest of St. Petersburg via taxi, metro, bus and ride share/taxi apps. ||I would definitely be staying here again. St Petersburg is an amazing city and House by Hermitage would be an excellent base...
