Pushka Inn were very fast to help organise visa support documents (tourist voucher and invitation) via a third party and emails were responded to promptly.
Upon arrival at the hotel the staff were very friendly, went over all the information we needed, showed us the location of various sights on a map including the two nearby supermarkets and answered the other questions we had.
My wife and I crammed into the elevator facing each other (you would want to know the other person in the elevator well) and our luggage followed soon after. We decided to use the stairs for the rest of the stay as it was only two flights of stairs (the ground floor is level one).
The room itself was clean, nicely decorated with plenty of room and a clean bathroom. Outside the room was a water filter as you are supposed to avoid drinking the local water including for brushing your teeth. We purchased bottled water cheaply at the local supermarkets which are open late.
Internet was fast most of the time, now and again we had a few connection problems but these were infrequent.
Room 301 had a nice view of the canal but others have mentioned in their reviews that this can be noisy at times from the tour boats going past but we didn't notice this.
Breakfast was in the restaurant in the same building but you leave the front door, walk across the driveway and into the other door to enter. The food here is supposed to be very good at night but we didn't get a chance to try it but will next time. The made to order omelette was excellent as was the rest of the food, the spread was pretty decent given the size of the hotel.
We will stay here again when we return to Saint Petersburg, the location is perfect as is the hotel. The staff are always pleasant and helpful and I couldn't think of anything else we could have wanted. Definately stay at this hotel, it's number one on TripAdvisor for a reason!

Read moreThis was our first visit to Russia. I found this hotel on the top list at Tripadvisor so we had high expectations. We order the hotels transfer service from the airport to the hotel. The driver was waiting at the airport with my name on a sign when we arrived and drive us directly to the hotel - perfect after a long time in queue for the passport control! I will recommend this transfer service (only 1350 RUB) because there are not many taxis on the airport and it’s really chaotic.
I had ordered the standard welcome package (sparkling wine, fruits and candles) in our room at arrival as a romantic greeting for my wife (see my attached photos). It was great - just one little tip to the staff ; put the sparkling wine in a cooler.
The rooms are of a high standard, well decorated and definitely valuing the history of the building. The bathroom is clean with proper shower room size and they provided nice toiletries (see my attached photos from room 208).
The hotel location is perfect - the amazing Hermitage is only two minutes walk and it is only a couple more minutes to the famous Church of Spilled Blood.
The friendly staff sincerely enjoy serving their guests and making us feel at home! The staff dealt with any request or problem immediately and were exceptionally friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. They also spoke very good English.
The breakfast in the restaurant next door was excellent with a selection of fresh foods that never left me unsatisfied. This was also an excellent restaurant for dinner and which gave 20 % off to the hotel guests
Internet with good capacity (2-4 MB download) is free of charge in all areas of the hotel and restaurant
If you are going to St. Petersburg - this is the hotel to book!!

Read moreHad an incredible two night stay there. The accommodation is not exactly cheap but all half decent hotels in the vicinity were even more expensive or sold out for our dates, so for the price less than that of a central hotel room we’ve got a whole luxury apartment with a double bed, sitting area, fully equipped kitchen and a decently sized bathroom in the very heart of St.Petersburg just steps away from both Palace Square and Russian Museum. As a bonus you get to experience the St.Pete’s trademark interconnected inner courtyards you don’t normally see when walking the streets and admiring the facades. The apartment was deep in the middle of a block, on the first floor, dead quiet with its 80cm thick and 100+ year old walls plus double glazed windows. The apartment had a very high ceiling and four windows, was tastefully appointed with luxury materials, furniture and bathroom fixtures, all very new and clean. The fridge was stocked with a generous supply of everything you can expect at any hotel’s buffet breakfast plus eggs, there were also tea and coffee making facilities. The management was extremely nice and helpful, even left a box of chocolates for us and let us stay until 14:00 on our checkout day so that we could head straight to our train. The WiFi was fast...
