I chose to stay in this Hostel due to the reviews and outstanding feedback given.||||I made direct contact with the property where the manager promptly showed amazing support in helping me making a reservation via what's up which was quite convenient and showed all photos and answered any question I had.||||So far their attention to detail was quite rare and made me really want to stay with them.||||I had a few issues with my own flights, has they canceled my flights and made my connections land later then they were suppose to and they managed to lost my bag on the way... so a lot of complications and again the manager was always there 24/7 replying to me and ensuring that I would have someone to pick me up despite all my flight changes, showing me again an extra level of service really outstanding and unexpected.||||Once I arrived to the hostel, no information was given to me regarding like how to use the kitchen or what I could use.. where I would find what and how to use what or even wi/fi... and since they have always someone there not busy.. I think they should improve the way they receive guests.||||The rooms are quite good for the price you pay but you have stairs which with a suitcase is not that easy and in the end of the day you do expect the basics regardless their beauty... And that's where the problems started. The room where I initially stayed (room number 9) it is a very beautiful room with balcony but there are no curtains to cover the light which means at 6 am you can't sleep much longer... if you can use your own eye shades... but it was something I was not expecting...||||Second thing.. their walls are incredibly thin and everyday at exactly 8 am I could not sleep more... everyone is talking extremely loud and closing the doors with no care and you simply cannot sleep with all the people bringing the food and taking the laundry and becomes a nightmare... so If you're not a person who like to be waken up in the morning.. this is definitely not the place for you...||||Third thing, I am a woman... I cannot physically take a shower in 3 minutes and that's how long hot water will run.. again if you can take a cold shower well you can still enjoy it.. but another thing I was not expecting...||||I tried to not care much with these little things due to all the help they had provided.||||I was unsure during my stay of how many days I would stay so I kept telling them every 2 days and unfortunately they had a reservation for my room, after 4 days of me staying there, and I had to change to another room (room 8).||||I was ok with it as I understood they already had a reservation for that particular room before so the next day I moved to the other room which was smaller and with no balcony and less conditions than the other one.||||I talked with the manager, although I could understand why I had to move it was also a different type of room and the price should be different. He said he had to check with his supervisor and after 2 days he informed me that it was possible but that the other room was again available and I could move again to the room where I was initially and pay the price established from the beginning.||||I appreciated the offer but I was not around and had already plans and could not make another move and to be honest I was not in the mood of moving a third time in 7 days for another room.. So I informed I was satisfied in staying in the other room for the price we agreed and not move again.||||And than I had a surprise from the manager which pretty much told me if I wouldn't move I would pay the same money for the better room regardless if I would do the move or not.||So pretty much I was being forced to move and have what I was paying for or not have it and pay for it anyway! Wow!! That after all their service was definitely not expected!! Specially when I was staying with them for already 1 week and planning to go to belgrade every 3 months and stay with them... I was checking out 1 day after and he was having all this argument over 5 euros !!! LOOOL!!||||I mean their location is not the greatest... I talk by experience as you find for the same price better places to stay, closer from the center and far away from all the gypsies and beggars...and trust me in their area there are a LOT... they tried to rob me once... and you have better areas to stay.||||But I liked their service at the beginning and they were so helpful that I would have chosen to be with them regardless all this little issues that were not a big deal for me since I wake up quite early and I could do my hair in a hairdresser instead for the few days I was staying.||||But if that's how they deal with people.. Than people deserve to know that they can find way better service and places to stay and that they will only help you if it helps their wallet. ||||I do not plan in coming back and was very disappointed with the overall experience when it had such a promising start. They have potential but they do need to learn how to deal with people in the first place and learn how to improve their service with the lack of basics that are extremely important such as water, curtains, sleep and noise... pretty much the reason why we book a room in the first...
Read moreJust returned to Greece after a 4 day escape to Belgrade. I had originally booked elsewhere but after an incident we decided to stay at WakeUp. |Fair price, clean heated room with four beds ( slightly narrow but we couldn't care less) , clean private bathroom always with boiling hot water. |Though, the best about the hostel was not the accommodation but the staff. The male receptionist was as helpful as it gets, always willing to provide information and the lady was lovely even though she could not speak English we communicated perfectly. | I strongly recommend it especially for traveling...
Read moreThey have such a kind and helpful staff that you are given maps and general information about the city the second you ask for it. Glad to say they have no problems in talking English, plus there's a big fridge downstairs which is used public and believe me - that was a total lifesaver. Also a heads up, Belgrade doesn't have a huge nightlife (not after 2 am anyway) in winter, so keep in mind that Stefan Braun and a club that is right next to the hotel is open till 5! But the most important thing on our part,...
