Feedback on Wine Pairing Experience
Dear Salon 1905 Team,
I recently had the pleasure of dining at your restaurant during my visit to Belgrade in 21st April, and I chose the 7-course tasting menu with wine pairing. Overall, I was impressed by the culinary creativity and presentation, and I sincerely appreciate the effort that went into the meal.
However, I would like to share feedback on a few aspects of my experience that left me disappointed.
During the dinner, I asked — very politely — if it would be possible to receive just a little more of two of the wines that I particularly enjoyed. At no point was I informed that this request would incur an additional charge. It came as a surprise, therefore, when I was later billed 15,000 RSD,which was only communicated at the time of payment.
What was more disappointing than the charge itself, however, was the tone and attitude of the staff when I questioned it. I was told quite bluntly, “Of course it’s an extra charge,” as if I should have known — which made me feel uncomfortable, even embarrassed. That response lacked the warmth and professionalism I expected, and unfortunately affected the overall impression of the evening.
Additionally, at the end of the meal, I was asked whether I would like tea or coffee. Naturally, I assumed it was a part of the tasting menu, as the way it was presented felt like a complimentary conclusion to the dining experience. However, I was again surprised to find an extra charge added to the bill — without any prior notice. When I expressed my confusion, the staff compared it to being charged for bottled water, which I found to be an odd and dismissive analogy in this context.
I completely understand that some items may not be included and that additional charges can apply. My feedback is not about the cost itself, but about how it was communicated — or rather, not communicated — and how my inquiries were handled when I asked for clarification.
I’m sharing this not in anger, but in the hope that future guests can be offered clearer and more considerate service. Your establishment has so much potential and talent, and I believe with improved transparency and customer care, the overall experience can truly match the excellence of your...
Read moreWe recently visited this place, and I think this is the best fine dining restaurant in Belgrade, even in Europe. It’s in the Michelin guide, and I can’t help but wonder why it still didn’t receive a star or three? Salon 1905 is absolutely unique, restaurant is like hidden treasure in one of the most beautiful architectural monuments of Belgrade, with a monumental staircase and beautiful sculptures. The interior is so elegant and eclectic, I felt awe and admiration when I entered, but also felt comfortable at the same time, everything about this place is surprisingly balanced. Every single plate is so carefully picked to perfectly suite every meal. We had seven course menu, but surprisingly were served with 10 impeccable meals. It was really like an art in a plate, both visually and tasteful… Courses are based on Serbian traditional meals, but redesigned to be a little bit different, modern and much better. The Chef is like a food alchemist, every single bite is like mixture of little paradise and explosion of surprise, with perfectly balanced flavours. Staff was very professional, yet friendly and relaxed, and well informed about ingredients, flavours and Serbian tradition. Every course is featured with a different sort of wine, that sommelier picked for us and explained the whole story about its etymology and history. The only “bad” thing about visiting this place is that it was so mesmerising and we enjoyed every single thing, that I didn’t bother to take some photos of that atmosphere and art and creativity that surrounded us, I just enjoyed the moment. Can’t wait to come again and try new spring menu, hope that I’ll manage this time to take...
Read moreIf you are looking for a true, one of a kind, fine dining experience in Belgrade, you found it! This place is incredible! Let’s start with this stunning historical building that has rich history and breath taking architecture - just ask your waiter to tell you it’s history. The foyer of this building, the staircase and the restaurant itself are absolutely stunning. I originally started with 5 course menu and after a few courses quickly changed it to 7 courses. Every bite was an experience, its Serbian flavours taken to another level. Be sure to get wine pairing and discover amazing wines from Serbian regions. Food was well presented and perfectly matched to wines and plates used framed them like an art piece. There are many familiar Serbian flavours redefined for a modern palette. This is Serbian food like you’ve never tasted before. I loved every dish - could not pick my favourite. Each dish offered something different and it set well with an entire repertoire.
Service was impeccable. All staff were incredibly well trained, helpful and attentive. Thank you Mark for your service.
Atmosphere was soft with piano playing in the background, sun setting on gorgeous building nearby, candles on the table and a large mirror that extends the space of the room. Elegant interiors done tastefully.
Highly recommend to anyone that is looking for a romantic spot, it’s perfect for special occasions/ proposals or to impress your business clients visiting from...
