The level is definitely not satisfactory.
You expect really more from such a structure (with these prices). Usually I don’t write negative reviews, but in this case I’m obliged to avoid tiger people to ruin their honeymoon as we did. The build is in a good location since it’s close to the sea. Unfortunately though not the rooms or the restaurant have a sea view. Only the outside restaurant does but it is only with reservation and for fee (not included in half board). The food is very good. The staff is very polite and smiley, however the build starts having “age troubles”.
First of all wifi works only few times. The problem was known from the staff that apologizes.
There’s a building site that’s very close (about 5 meters) to the rooms, adjacent to the beach too, with pneumatic drill working all day long every day: really bothersome! Answer from the staff: “the agency knew that”. Ok but nobody told us! We paid full price despite the great discomfort. The noise of the construction is heard both from the room and from the beach and it doesn’t allow you to relax under the beautiful palm trees. No peace at all!
In the shower and in the all bathroom we found lots ants: there is a real ROAD of ants going along the wall and behind the towels. Answer from the staff: “we are in a tropical island, we cannot do anything about it. You should have expected it.”(!!)
Most of the areas that we can see on the website or trip advisor are not accessible due to the building site.
Doors and gate of the room make noise during night due to the wind.
One day in the evening we had to call the reception because there was not hot water and we had to wait about one hour to get it fixed.
The check out is at 10 am. Our ferry boat was at 1 pm. We spent about 2 hours and half sitting in the hall waiting for the transfer, in company with the pneumatic drill. We couldn’t go to swim or stay in the beach because we got all our things in the luggage and we had no possibility to change dress. We asked for a late checkout but the answer was “it is not possible”.
On the beach (that is very beautiful) the sunbeds are old and not so comfortable, compared to those of the next resort (comfortable with pillows).
The extras are really expensive: laundry, massages and beverage. For example two glasses of wine about 23€ (fees and service included). The daily excursions’ price is about double the one of the nearby agencies that you can find along the beach (for the same services).
We asked for little discount at the check out (give the numerous inconveniences), but the boss said no.
Conclusions: we are really sorry and disappointed. For your holidays, we suggest another location that, at the same price, could maybe offer better services and...
Read moreThe Le Duc hotel is located at the lovely Anse Volbert beach of Cote d'Or on Praslin Island, which is a great spot to swim (no big waves), for snorkelling (around the Chauve Souris private island just 5 minutes off the coast), building sand castles in the finest sand we ever stepped on or just to relax in the hotel-provided beach beds. At the Cafe des Arts, which belongs to the hotel, you can enjoy snacks, drinks and also a la carte dinners (50% reduced for hotel guests) right at the beach. At the boat house we could use several items like a glass bottom kayak for free.
The hotel itself welcomes all kinds of guests, from honeymooners to families, people looking for affordable stays as well as luxury travellers. Our superior room was located at the eco wing and provided a separate toilet, bath with a bath tub, a spare bed for our son next to our queen size bed and a balcony.
We only had to take some steps to cross the small street to get to the reception and restaurant area or walk 3 minutes to the beach. A swimming pool and a jacuzzi were located just downstairs next to our room. Our housekeeping attendant Fernando took care our room in a perfect way!
We enjoyed breakfast and dinner at the main Restaurant called Dauphine, where international as well as Creole dishes have been served, prepared by live cooking chefs. About every second evening there was a fresh sushi buffet and a barbecue buffet. We were well treated by all staff members all the time. We would like to say a big THANK YOU to Sakeem, Dinesh, Stephanie B, De Silva, Dilshan, Viraj and Ranjith who made us smile every day.
Although the hotel does not offer a kid's club and the ocean wing of the hotel (as with it's pool) are adults-only, as a family we felt very comfortable. There were other families around, also with smaller kids, but it was never loud. The size of the hotel is just perfect to be treated individually.
"More than you expected" is the slogan of the hotel and the owner, Mr. Robert Payet, takes care himself that expectations are succeeded in his family owned hotel. He can be found every day on the premise, asking guests about their wellbeing and welcoming new guests which is very special.
We can recommend all Seychelles travellers to stay right here on Praslin as for us it was the best spot to travel to the other islands like La Digue, Cousin, Courieuse and enjoy the beautiful beaches of Praslin and Vallée de Mai national park. On our departure day we booked a private driver to see the Mahé top spots which was just alright for us.
Thank you to all Le Duc De Praslin staff members for this special and...
Read moreThe Le Duc De Praslin hotel is amazing with a fantastic beachside location. More like a resort than a hotel. It’s well maintained and cared for with great attention for detail. Stayed here for 5 nights with my wife in the new section (room 105, Ground floor) and loved every minute if it. The new rooms are well laid out and spacious. The ceiling fan is brilliant , allowing you to turn off the air con at night, for a peaceful quiet but cool sleep. The electric pugs are international style (takes UK/Ireland 3 pin, 2 pin USA blades and European) and they have USB charging ports too. Powerful and spacious shower is great. Lots of room for clothes hanging.
The room outside porch area is nice, again spacious and comfy to relax in , and also has a ceiling fan to keep you comfortable.
We loved the Adults Pool Bessie the new room. Peaceful and plenty of Sun loungers and beanbags with shade too if needed.
The Le Dauphin restaurant for breakfast and Dinner is relaxed and clean. Food selection is vast and very tasty. Service is good and clearly the service and bar team is well trained. Good selection of wine too which is kept in a wine chiller.
WiFi throughout the complex is just under 1MBps down & up. Enough for basic sms and some social media, but who needs WiFi when on holiday. Seychelles doesn’t generally have good internet so leave the laptops at home.
I used the gym a few times and it’s a good size, well equipped and got everything you need.
My wife and I used the spa a few times for massages and I would highly recommend a visit.
The Cafe Des Art bar and restaurant on the beachfront is great . Lovely staff, personal service with a smile and an amazing beachside location. A live DJ at weekend gets the vibe and atmosphere going in the evening. Super place for sunset drinks, but is open all day too. Try the 5 Spice Pork Belly dish: it’s truly delicious.
Robert the Hotel GM and Director is always around and very accessible. He is constantly checking in with all guests ensuring everything is ok. He recommended and booked a day Boat trip with Angel Tours for us that was simply breathtaking.
Since I booked directly with the hotel, they organized the taxi from the ferry Jetty to the hotel upon arrival. Praslin Jetty to Le Duc hotel SCR 300 each way, about 12...
