Before we start, the following review is of course subjective. Furthermore our stay was good, but in the end there were a few reasons, why we can only give 3 stars.
Check In: We had to wait minimum 30 minutes, till we were fully checked in. We got a juice, which was nice. But we couldn't understand, why we had to wait so long, as there was a lot of staff in the almost empty restaurant. It seems that the other staff are only there for the restaurant and not for the hotel. But when the woman for the check-in finally came, she besides also managed to get the coming people for the restaurant seated.
Covid-19: Les Lauriers is a health-certified hotel. Unfortunately there were lots of guests, who didn't wear face masks. And unfortunately the hotel- and restaurant staff did not really care. Even at the buffets, no one asked these guests to wear masks.
Restaurant and Dinner: The overall quality of the food is excellent. But in our opinion the service wasn't. One night there was a menu, with the option for pizza. We wanted to have a starter from the menu, a pizza as main course and the dessert from the menu. Unfortunately, we weren't allowed to eat like we wished. Instead, were asked to eat one pizza together as a starter and then we had to choose a main course from the menu. We couldn't understand, why it wasn't possible. So we asked again, but were told that pizza as a main course is not possible. As we are the paying guests and Pizza was available anyway we still can't understand that. Furthermore there we several different waitresses at our table. But there was obviously no consultation between them. Empty glasses were not asked to be refilled again.
Rooms and facilities: The room and hotel facilities were good and we liked it. In our opinion the pool could have been cleaner. There was a beautiful pool bar, but most of the time there was no staff there. Sad!
Our overall impression was, that there is no guiding thread. The management and service is a little bit chaotic. On the other side, the food was delicious and staff was friendly all the time. We hope that these information...
Read moreWe were very impressed with the built up of the hotel with the restaurant and the pool adjacent to it and we're wondering why we couldnt book the hotel for our dates.
Most of the tourists are through group tour organisers hence they probably block their rooms till late. So if you want to book then book early to enjoy realy a classy hotel. Masons and Creole are the two big organisers around the Seychelles.
The place is situated on a small lane inwards opposite the beach so it's very quiet and cosy. The ambience was perfect and one would enjoy their evening a lot in one's privacy.
The restaurant has an open floor ideal where there is a bar with bar stools and the best part is when one arrives in one can see The Pizza oven furnace burning and you can decipher that the Pizza is definitely a thing to go for which we did as well.
We had Dinner at the reataurant as we had heard a lot about it. Me being a vegetarian is always a tough nut.
3/4 Vegetarian choices on the main dish so I had the Veg Stew which was in my opinion blant and also to a certain extent in my opinion was lying under the warmer for sometime as the top was hot but the mid section and bottom were cold. But when someone is hungry after a full day at the beach it doesn't mind.
Before I ordered the mains we had 2 starters. The Vegetable tempura and the Ravioli in Creme sauce with Parmesan mousse.
The Veg Tempura melted in our mouth with its fine batter which gave the crispness to freshly fried vegetables is definitely a must to eat.👍👍👍
The Ravioli was also good but failed to make the mark. It lacked the ping which could have been crushed red peppers or freshly roasted red onions.👍
The Tiger prawns which we ordered were of medium size but they were cooked perfectly and were delicious.👍👍👍
The Pizza Lauriers was a Serano ham slices with cheese and ruccola which was upto the mark. Too class👍👍👍
The service altogether can improve and be a lot better. We will be going there once again before...
Read moreWe rented the villa a small walk from the hotel as we were traveling with 2 families, a group of in total 9 people. The house was fine, spacious, nice outdoor area but overall a bit rundown, not exceptionally clean. Location is great, right on the water, there are some shops and restaurants in walking distrance. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet at the hotel, which was plentiful. Pool area also very nice, kids loved it. Just a shame it closes at 6pm which is a bit early in the tropics. ||We had a power black out for 24 hours, it was on the whole island and I think even on all of the Seychelles. Inconvenient as it was, the hotel was not at fault of course. What they did fault was the way they handled the situation. No communication, no explanation, no sympathy, no help offered, NOTHING. I reached out to the reception myself after more then 12 hours and all I got was, it's not our fault. No 'how can we help? We understand your frustration. Were the kids allright? Do you need a flashlight or some candles?' Nothing, no empathy, just a really defensive attitude. We were not the only guests feeling upset about this, a lot of them were angry. So unnecessary, this could have been easily fixed with some kind words, some understanding and perhaps a free drink or whatever to change the mood. ||I work in hospitality myself and believe that communication can save the day. Being kind doesn't cost a thing. Management at Les Lauriers has a lot to learn...
