To say this restaurant is a crushing disappointment would be an understatement. The service is disjointed and disorganised where they are clearly not communicating with each other. The food is perfunctory at its best. My fillet of fish was riddled with bones: totally undermining the purpose of a fillet. The pumpkin purée that comes with it had an unsettling fermented flavour that made me question how long it had been cooked; that is before we get to the topic of it being icebox cold. Cold like my side portion of rice. My wife’s spicy tuna steak was cooked medium (as requested) however has never seen seasoning yet alone spice. I could talk about other strange features of the restaurant but, honestly, I think you get the picture by now. I am in absolutely no rush to come back to this restaurant. I do hope that this experience is isolated and one that perhaps is due to the pressures restaurants face under the pandemic. Nonetheless, there is an abundance of popular and decent restaurants within walking distance meaning that the presence of choice motivates me me to...
Read moreThe BEST food in Praslin! We have no clue how this place isn't 5 stars. We shared the cream of vegetable soup and the smoked marlin rolls - which were SO delicious, fresh and packed with flavor! My partner had the Curried Seafood Tagliatelle (which he really enjoyed), but we both agree the Lamp Chops I had stole the show! WOW these were phenomenal! So much flavor, perfectly cooked and had some kind of flavorful sauce that took it to the next level. We plan to come back again ASAP! 😍
EDIT: we returned a day or two later, and the food wasn't nearly as delicious as it was the first time... The lamb was overcooked, the soup wasn't as flavorful... definitely different chefs. And there was a much older lady who was serving who was simply mean and off-putting to us and the younger, pregnant server... We had originally wondered why it wasn't 5 stars, and when we left the second time, we understood why. Hope you make it there on a good day, because good food in Praslin is...
Read moreMy family and I had the pleasure of dining at Pirogue Restaurant for a late lunch, and it was a delightful experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was exceptionally welcoming from the start.
For our meals, I enjoyed a perfectly cooked tuna steak, while my sister opted for chicken spaghetti, modified without mushrooms due to her allergy – a request they accommodated with ease. My mother had the grilled lamb chopsticks, which were tender and flavorful.
For dessert, we shared the chocolate fondant, coconut flan, and fruit salad, each a standout in its own way – rich, creamy, and refreshing. As an added charm, a little bird decided to join us during dessert, adding a touch of nature to our meal.
Overall, the food was excellent, the staff attentive, and the ambiance memorable. Pirogue is a must-visit spot in Côte D'Or for a wonderful...
