I checked in&paid, but did not stay there as the place was not what I expected it to be after reading all good reviews. Let me explain ..||The location is good, quite street, nice house. The overall impression of the hostel - post soviet/basic/simple/typical Slovakian. As far as I looked around, everything was well maintained and clean. Big self-cattering kitchen, place to have meals or sit with your laptop. No bar or possibility to eat/drink if you don't have anything with you. After I checked in, English speaking girl left & the lady staying around could speak only Slovak. Rooms. I saw 2 rooms & you should go through one of them to get into the other. Rooms are small, each comprising 2 bunk beds, bare walls & TV. No touch of any design & soul in the rooms or whatsoever. But the worst was the company I got - they were not travelling people, but obviously some locals who were staying in Košice for work or smh. The other guy I got in my room (tough there were free beds in another room with 2 guys already they put him with me), came in with 2 liter plastic beer bottle, already drunk, wanted to watch TV, but when he took off his socks - OMG! I would have died in that room if I stayed :D Since I love backpacker s hostels, I can assure you - this is not this kind of hostel. At least, it was not when I was there - because of ambiente & because of people staying. May be owners are trying to get more travellers and change it, but as I was told later, they always had been a place for hard labour workers using it as long term dorm type...
Read moreI can't say that we had a horrible stay .. We had an okay stay! We were checked in late at night by an older lady, who did not speak any English but was very nice, friendly. Reception area has lots of information on the wall in English so you don't actually have to ask any questions. They have free private parking in the yard, which seemed safe. They do also have a storage room where you could keep your luggage in the morning. Location is good, few minutes from the old town. There is a kitchen next to the front desk that you could use. But ... But... those shared bathrooms and showers. Tiny, dark, old, no place to put your things ... no hooks where to hang up your clothes or towel. After few people have already used the bathroom floors and sinks are wet .. where am I supposed to put my clean clothes and my towel? Pile them on the wet hair covered floor? It is not an excuse! You need to fix that! Oh and ladies bathroom/men's bathroom/women's toilet/men's toilet had a gap between the wall and the ceiling so technically it feel like you are all in the same room while you are brushing your teeth you can also hear somebody else doing their thing. It is really a shared bathroom experience! Room itself was nice and big, service was very nice. But those bathrooms are not acceptable for the price you are paying! Oh if you are staying on the top floor, make sure you don't leave roof window open over night - I woke my husband up screaming cause I thought I peed my pants .. It was just rain water that had completely...
Read moreIt is an OK hostel, you get a bed, a shared shower and a small kitchen. Problem is that it is not worth the money you pay.. Beds are not comfortable and the sheets/tower were not clean. We had 2 showers in 1 shared room so we had to lock other people out or share the room with a stranger. Kitchen was OK but limited, there was an oven but we weren't allowed to use it. There was a fridge but it is not allowed to store drinks in it. So if you want a refreshing drink during the hot day(27-33°c) you are in bad luck... the fridge is also full of food that is spoiled, so I didn't want to put my own food next to it. Staff was polite but not more then that. The walls and isolation are terrible. We could hear everything from outside and in the building. Everything on the street, people on the hallway, when they shower and when they went to the toilet, so they could hear us too. Wifi doesn't work properly. I coudn't even use...
