Overall, this place isn't the worst, but for the price you'd expect much more. Mainly, we had problems with the owner. Someone else checked us in on Friday morning and asked when we'd like breakfast. I assumed that, since she showed me the breakfast menu and asked when we want to eat, that breakfast was included in the price (about $50 per night).||Now, of course I must accept some of the blame for assuming that breakfast was included, but the woman who checked us in never said that it WASN'T included.||Also, when I went to see the place before I checked in, the owner showed me several rooms (and I had a reservation for a specific room) and quoted three different prices for EACH room! I should have taken that as hint enough.||We ate breakfast both mornings, and when we went to check out, the owner charged us 4000 korun. This is 1200 (about $40) more than I expected, so we argued. He doesn't speak English, but fortunately my wife speaks Slovakian.||He quickly "re-calculated" the bill and it dropped to 3700 korun. Still, this was high. He again "re-calculated" and it dropped again to 3600. Why was it at 4000 to begin with? He wouldn't answer.||In the end, this is what we paid, but this guy is really slippery. Avoid this place. There are MUCH nicer places in Kosice that are cheaper and have breakfast included! Plus, every time we used the shower, the floor would be flooded. Water seeped down behind the shower, under the tub and out onto the floor. We should have just left it like it was, but we didn't want to be as rude as this guy was.||Frankly, this is a problem encountered often in many places in eastern Europe/former USSR. I write this because I'm not from here but I live here (in Ukraine, specifically, for 3+ years). Business owners see customers as one-timers. They think they have one shot to grab as much money as possible from that person and that's it. They don't yet value the idea of a return customer.||So, all that said, Pension Nad Bankou lost a couple of potential long-term customers (we travel to Kosice often), and I promised the owner that I'd do my best to make sure no one else stays with him.||Sorry for the bad review, but at least now...
Read moreWe booked this hotel through a booking server on the day of arrival as we decided to stay in Kosice one more day. In the time of reservation, the hotel showed besides our room three other free rooms. When we arrived (about in one hour after reservation) nobody in the reception knew about the booking and we have been asked for waiting. After about 15 minutes of waiting we have been informed that there is no free double room in the hotel. We have been offered with a triple room insted. They did not alow us to see the room before accomodating "because there are photos on the website" and we have been ensured that there is one double bed and one single bed in the triple room. ||In the same time, they offered us a breakfast but surprisingly we would have to choose the meal for the morning in the evening. So we decided better to have our breakfast somewhere else. Also, even the hotel information says there is a restaurant, they were not able to offer a dinner (the time was around 8 PM).||It was hard to find our room as there were no signs for the hotel rooms in the house and the rooms are situated in two houses.||In the triple room were three separate beds not even possible to connect them together to make one large bed. I am not sure wether the receptionist and the hotel manager haven't seen their rooms before or wether....||Also the bedding is not the newest and my friend was cold during the night.||The hotel advertizes wifi for free available in the rooms. There is not even a low signal for their wifi available.||We tried to complain at the reception in the evening as well as in the morning but we have heard only more and more excuses and no apology....||We will be going to Kosice again but deffinitly not...
Read moreSimilar problems to earlier review. Made a firm booking by email for a room we had been in 6 months earlier (with no particular problems) but found when we arrived that they had extended the stay for an existing guest pointing out to us that he was a doctor, there for a conference. I too am a doctor and didn't see why this was relevant. I was the one who had made a firm booking. I was taken to another pension a few doors down to a vastly inferior room. No apology or recompense offered. When we moved to leave it was pointed out that there was no space anywhere because of the conference except at the most expensive hotel. - asssuming we would be discouraged by this comment. At this stage, we would have paid whatever necessary to get away. Like the last reviewer, we were returning to the area in the future. This hotel lost a regular twice yearly booking for the next 4 years. Their...
