Trattoria Kartca is in a convinent location, not far from the city center (20mins on foot but you have to pass by some not really nice areas). Formerly it was called Gostilna pri Katrci, but it has been refurbished and rooms are fairly spacious (some more than others) and bright. ||The rooms are on the first floor, while on the ground floor there is a restaurant. The breakfast is usually served in the restaurant. ||||My boyfriend and I arrived on the 30th december and were very satisfied of the room: clean, tidy, lcd TV. We also had a good dinner at the restaurant. During the dinner we were informed that the restaurant was going to be CLOSED on 31st and 1st..we would have prefered to be informed when we booked since we chose a b&b accomodation in this not- centrally-located place, also because of the restaurant: after an entire day visiting Ljubljana we wanted to avoid stressful restaurant research! ||Actually finding an open place was the main problem in Ljubljana during those days...EVERYTHING was CLOSED! On the 31st it was surreal: thousands of tourists walking around the city center looking for a place to eat! The only 3 open places (one restaurant serving a very expensive menu,a nother one "a la carte" and a pizzeria)were totally full! At the end we had dinner at a kavapcici kiosk while it was raining!||When we came back to the accomodation we also found some paninis in the fridge that weren't there the previous day..the following morning we realised them to be our breakfast!! Breakfast room was empty and we just had those COLD paninis, no coffee, juice, yogurt, cereals....||In addition, given the absence of staff, our room wasn't cleaned during our 3 days stay.||||On the 1st we went to LAKE BLED, really really nice place and, moreover, a number of restaurants, cafes and even some shop were OPEN!!||||In conclusion, Ljubljana is a nice city, it is small and one day is enough for seeing it all, but avoid it during new year's days..||Katrca is a fair accomodation for those who like to be out if the crouded city center and are travelling by car (a number of parking spaces in...

Location is not very far from city centre (about 20 min if you go by foot). Atmosphere in this restaurant is very relaxed and pleasant and they have a nice terrace. They offer all kinds of different brands of beer, so if you just want to grab a few beers with your friends and hang out, this is an absolute must! Food is also good. Burger overral was tasty and the figs jam underneath the patty was a pleasent surprise, because figs really give that nice sweetnes to the meat. The bread on the other hand was dry. It was definitely not freshly baked. Meat that they offer is of great quality and they grill it with that nice smokey flavor, but somehow they have managed to grill it unevenly. On some parts it was well done and on some it was still raw so flavors were very unbalanced. Service was polite, but they were annoyingly unorganised. When we asked for the check we waited so long that in the end the manager saw that something was not right, and she finally brought us our check. Overall we had a good time so we...
Read moreA friend and I spent 2 nights here during a tour of Slovenia & Croatia. We are budget travellers, so the lack of luxury (e.g. toiletries, towels, no elevator) were not problems for us.||It was somewhat annoying that, although there was an in-room safe, it was locked and no one could figure out how to open it. ||The room was clean, and not overly cramped. The breakfast was good, and the beds were comfortable. There is on-site parking available. The inn is quite appealing in appearance, and the AC worked well.||It can be time consuming to locate staff (the desk is not always manned), but the location is the main drawback. THe neighbourhood is totally residential (no restaurants, markets, etc.) except for a large block of student housing, which sounded a bit rowdy on a Friday night. It is a 25-30 minute walk to the city centre; there is a bus stop two blocks away, but service is not very frequent. I will say that the Ljubljana bus service is a very clean & efficient system, but it made us hesitate about experiencing nightlife, as walking through an unfamiliar, very dark street at night was unappealing.||If you had a car, and didn't mind dealing with downtown parking (the city core is pedestrianized), this could be a...
