Pine Tree Lodge Guest House — Hotel in Eastern Cape

I booked to stay at Pine Tree Lodge on 11 April 2023 about 3 weeks ago.|On 11 April, we called Pine Tree Lodge to inform then that we were running a bit late and we would check in before 20h00.|We arrived, checked in and were then told by the receptionist that our room had been given to someone else on Sunday, 09 April, and that the whole establishment was fully booked out. Why did she not tell us that when we phoned earlier that afternoon?|We asked for the manager, to be told that she had gone out.|This is most unprofessional, to put it mildly. I will certainly never book Pine Tree Lodge again, and I shall certainly inform TripAdvisor and Booking.com of the absolutely unprofessional service received. Very poor service, was very disappointed in the place, the host was not helpful at all. The place had an horrible smell, ants all over my food and bed. The iron kept tripping the plugs. When we had to leave we could not lock the door as it was faulty and ended up being late for a function because the host did not answer her phone, wifi was bad no DSTV don't think it is worth the money we paid for, wont see me there again. The single bed was so uncomfortable and the lame breakfast was terrible. The pillows was flat and old. Wont recommend...

Was a terrible experience. They didn't even get the room ready before hand. Ran around at 8pm to get the things set up in the room. Then couldn't find room key. So room was unlocked the whole night. The pictures on there site was nothing like that. Had a door in our room that connected to the room next door. But in the pic on there site there is no door, but pictures on the wall.
