A hidden diamond! This was one of the best hotels I stayed in. Even though it is not a name brand hotel, it is top notch. First of all, the location is fantastic; right in the middle of Kloof street where a lot of restaurants and bars are located.

The penthouse room is simply the best. It has floor to ceiling windows on three sides with great views of table mountain and Signal hill. Room 402 is the best. It comes with two large balconies.

The room is large…it’s basically like a one bedroom apartment. The bathroom is also very large and very nicely done.

The only issue I have with the room is that the sinks in the bathroom are too narrow. Not sure why they decided to install narrow sinks. The narrow sinks make a mess…water everywhere on the floor. There is plenty of room to install normal size sinks so why go with narrow size?

Only reason I can think of is that someone thought they look nice. It’s form over function. This is one of my pet peeves. I see this over and over again in many hotels. They choose aesthetics over practicality. Over and over again.

My wife says I should be careful and not spill water when I wash my face and hands. But why??

I am on a holiday for Pete’s sake. Why should I be careful? If the bathroom was small and there was no room I can understand (like in Europe). But here there is plenty of room. So I don’t understand the logic.

By the way, there is a ledge behind the sink which is very nice as you can put a lot of your toiletries (shaving stuff etc) on it.

Likewise, in the shower they only have a rain shower. My wife loves rain showers; I hate them. I prefer hand held shower. Most hotels have both. Not here. Again don’t understand why? Why????

Word of caution: if you want a quiet place this may not be the one for you. As many bars as close by, it may get very loud with music and people yelling, especially on weekends. We don’t mind as we...

I’ve stayed at Kloof Street Hotel several times over the years, but this most recent visit will be my last. The hotel has gradually declined and no longer offers good value or comfort, especially for longer stays.

I booked an economy room for 10 nights. The space was incredibly small, just slightly wider than the bed itself, and only accessible from one side. Soundproofing is practically non-existent. You can hear your neighbours moving around, opening their blinds (which have noisy chains), and even staff conversations echoing down the corridor from as early as 07:30. The hard laminate flooring and thin industrial-style hallway carpets make it even worse.

Basic amenities were poorly maintained. Only two coffee pods were provided, with no replenishment. The bathroom basin was tiny, the towels were thin and small, and the in-room safe was awkwardly mounted on the floor, requiring you to kneel to use it. Cleaning was slow, occupied rooms are cleaned only after vacated ones, meaning I often returned from a morning out to find mine untouched.

Breakfast was included but disappointing. While the cold selection was good, the hot buffet was almost always cold. Despite mentioning this to staff, nothing changed. I had dinner once, the oxtail was inedible and the lamb shank only slightly better. Both tasted like they'd been microwaved.

On the plus side, some of the restaurant staff were genuinely friendly, and I appreciated the one waitress who remembered my coffee preferences each morning. However, this was not enough to outweigh the hotel’s overall shortcomings.

After four nights, I moved to another hotel but continued using the breakfast and paid-for parking for the rest of the booking. Incidentally, parking charges have increased by 40%, from R100 to R140 per night, payable upfront.

Disappointing and frustrating overall. I won’t be...

The Location.....It is very critical location in Cape Town. All facilities are nearby. SPAR Market just few steps, opened 24 hours. Many many Halal Restaurants and Cafes are around. The view from the room's terrace....on Table Mountain....WOW!!!! WiFi is very good. Coffee offered in the breakfast is very good. Staff in the Restaurant are the best. They are trying their best to satisfy the clients. Staff in the reception is helpful. There is no Gym... Breakfast is below average...specially for Muslims....there aren't many Halal options, although, there is no much varieties, generally. The tanks of Juice and water were leakage, they put a glass at the tap of the tank. I dunno, 4 STARS HOTEL doesn't have another tanks in the stock!!!! it is very expensive for the management to purchase new ones on the next day?!!!! House Keeping team.....the worst thing in our stay. Do you want to wake up early in the morning? So, request an Iron from them in the night....they will knock your door at 7:30 a.m to return it back!!!! N.B. 1- 1st time we requested it, they didn't bring it. although, they knock our door next morning, asked about it!!! 2- 2nd time we requested it, they brought it and we used it and return it back immediately to avoid this early knocking.....Surprise.....they knock our door next morning, asked about it.....Honestly, unexplained attitude. 3- After 1st time, I complained to the duty manager (tall man was on the front desk)...he apologised, but it is repeated on the 2nd day. You don't have any tracking system for your tools and facilities?? or it is one iron in hotel?

The cleaning was not that much, or not matching for 4 starts hotel......

There was unpleasant odour in the corridor of the rooms and in...

My husband and I stayed in Cape Town for the first leg of our Holiday and had the lovely experience of staying at the Lion’s Roar Kloof Street. Wonderfully located in the heart of Kloof Street, it was the perfect location for my husband and I to stay. We were able to enjoy a night cap at some local spots as well as walk around the area feeling safe and relaxed. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff was always so attentive to our every need. From refilling the mini bar, to offering suggestions on things to do locally, we were so happy! Breakfast was included with our stay which included both a breakfast buffet, as well as a fresh breakfast to your order. The most significant take away from our stay was the staff at Lions Roar Kloof Street Hotel. Every single person we encountered was warm, kind and welcoming, always greeting with a smile and kind gestures. One specific staff member who my husband and I made acquaintance with was the bartender each night we were there, Mutuobisi Zabane. Mutuobisi took so much pride in the taste and presentation of every cocktail creation he presented. And let me say, made the BEST espresso Martini I have EVER had. Living in NYC and traveling to Italy I have had my fair share of espresso martinis, but never like the one Mutuobisi made for us! We had one every single night as a night cap after our dinners! He always greeted us with a warm smile and welcome. He even set up some seating for us by the fireplace for us to enjoy our cocktail on our final evening in Cape Town. Our stay at Lions Roar Kloof Street is going to be a memorable stay for us for decades to come!
